WoW Midnight 80–90 Leveling Guide
WoW Patch 12.1 removes the Hall of Fame cap. Solo Azta'rec in Tier ?? within Week 1 of Midnight Season 2 for the Fabled Vanquisher title.
In Season 1, Delve Nemesis Hall of Fame slots were capped at 4,000 per region. Nullaeus: the first Delve Nemesis: was killed enough times to hit that cap in roughly 14 hours. Players who slept, worked, or blinked missed it. The title was gone. Blizzard noticed this was roughly as fair as a first-come, first-served soup kitchen that seats four thousand and opens at 3 AM.
Patch 12.1 fixes this: the Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec Feat of Strength is now open to every player who solos Azta'rec on Tier ?? within the first week of Midnight Season 2: no regional cap, no headcount, no alarm at server reset.
New Reward: Title: Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec. Feat of Strength. Permanent. Gone after Season 2 ends.
Azta'rec lives in Venomfall Deeps, the new Nemesis Delve on the Coiled Isle. He is a venom-themed horror and Blizzard's official answer to the question "what if a poison spider had a raid encounter but you had zero friends." You can unlock his lair after clearing a Tier 10 delve with at least one life remaining. Do that before Season 2 opens. Show up unprepared and you're not a challenger, you're a tutorial.
Full ability data releases when Season 2 goes live. Based on PTR datamining and the structural precedent set by Nullaeus nemesis fight in Season 1, here is what can be stated with confidence:
|
Mechanic |
What It Does |
Consequence of Failure |
|
Venom Surge |
Channeled wave pattern, 10–17 sec, ~154k Nature dmg per wave |
Dead. Quickly. |
|
Venom Add |
Spawns a copy of Azta'rec: priority kill |
DPS check becomes a math problem you're losing |
|
Noxious Bile / Ula'tek's Gift |
Stacking DoT acting as a soft enrage |
Every extra second on the boss is a smaller margin to survive |
|
Cone + Pool |
Ground mechanics requiring active movement |
Standing still is a choice you will regret |
The Apophic Soul Crusher mount drops from the regular Let Me Solo Him Azta'rec achievement: available all season. The Fabled title is the Week 1 exclusive. Invasions during high-tier delves (Tier 8+) can happen but do not count for either achievement. His lair is the only valid kill location.
Walking in underprepared is not brave. It is content for other people's highlight reels. Azta'rec solo strategy begins weeks before you enter the lair.
Warning Nature resistance or absorb gear is a real consideration here, not a theory. Azta'rec's kit is poison-first. Your armor rating is not.

Valeera Sanguinar accompanies you. She is not a player. She does not count against the solo requirement. Her role configuration matters more than most players will admit until after their third wipe. The Valeera companion Azta'rec setup follows the same logic as Season 1:
|
Your Role |
Set Valeera To |
Reason |
|
Tank / Melee DPS |
Healer |
Covers dispels and debuff removal so you focus on interrupts |
|
Healer |
DPS |
She handles interrupts; you cover dispels manually |
|
Ranged DPS (short interrupt CD) |
DPS |
You can cover casts; let her punch the adds |
|
Ranged DPS (long interrupt CD) |
Healer |
She covers interrupts; you manage positioning |
With Azta'rec's poison-dominant ability set, Healer Valeera is the default for most specs. Change this only when you understand exactly what you're giving up.
The WoW Delve Hall of Fame Season 2 format shift is the entire reason this guide exists. Here is the comparison no one needed explained but everyone benefits from seeing in one place:

The old system disadvantaged anyone who did not play within the first server hours of launch. A shift worker, a parent, a person in a timezone that landed the launch at 4 AM: all equally irrelevant to the 4,000 that got their titles while others were busy existing. Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title is now accessible to anyone who can solo Tier ?? within a seven-day window. This is the correct change. Blizzard took one season to figure it out.
Every obtainable item tied to the Azta'rec Venomfall Deeps delve encounter, ranked by how much effort each one costs:

The Apophic Soul Crusher mount disappears when Season 2 ends. The Fabled title disappears at the end of Week 1. Plan accordingly or collect excuses instead.
The patch 12.1 Midnight Season 2 delves overhaul brings more than just a new nemesis. The full Coiled Isle zone drops first: three new delves including Venomfall Deeps, the Lairs world boss system with scalable difficulty, and Housing changes no one asked for but everyone will use. Season 2 launches one week after the content update, switching on the Venomous Abyss raid, a new Mythic+ rotation, ranked PvP, and Bountiful Delves past Tier 7.
The Coiled Isle new zone patch 12.1 introduces the Altar of Corrosion talent tree: a zone-specific player power system. Flickergates and Sanctioned Banners are the new interactable objects in delves. Learn what they do before you're inside the nemesis lair and trying to figure it out under pressure.
Timeline Story lead-in: early July 2026. Patch content update: ~August 2026. Season 2 start: one week after patch.

No. Solo means no other players. Valeera is a companion, not a player. She is fine.
Expect 274+ to be comfortable based on Season 1 precedent. Undergearding here is a learning experience, not a strategy.
No. His lair: Venomfall Deeps: is the only valid kill location for all three achievements.
Week 1. The mount and the Poisonous title last all season. The Feat of Strength does not.
Nullaeus killed the cap. It filled in 14 hours and Blizzard removed the limit for Season 2.
