If you want to master survival alchemy in Windrose and start crafting the absolute best potions and elixirs the game has to offer, upgrading your workstation is a fantastic next step! To reach Level 4 Alchemy, you will need to craft and place the Distiller add-on.

Here is a friendly, step-by-step guide to unlocking the blueprint, gathering your materials, and setting up your upgraded laboratory.

Unlocking the Blueprint & Gathering Materials

Before you can craft the Distiller, you will first need to unlock its recipe by exploring the swamp biome and locating a Bromeliad plant. Once you have discovered it, you can head out to gather the necessary crafting ingredients:

• 5x Mire Metal Ingots: (Sometimes listed in transcripts as "meer metal") These high-tier ingots are processed by taking ancient iron scraps found in world ruins and smelting them in a Large Smelting Furnace.
• 5x Wood: Easily harvested from standard large trees or palm trees around your camp.
• 2x Crocodile Hides: Gathered by hunting crocodiles, which you can typically find patrolling waterways and marshy shores.

Smart Placement and Base Mechanics

Like many advanced utility structures in Windrose, the Distiller utilizes the game's Area of Influence system to connect to your existing crafting setup:

• The Bonfire Rule: The Distiller must be placed within the glowing radius of your primary bonfire to function properly.
• The Reward: Once safely placed within the fire's light, your Alchemy Table's user interface will instantly update to Level 4. This unlocks vital survival recipes, including the highly coveted Great Healing Potion.
• Co-op Strategy: If you are playing with a crew of friends, you don't need to craft a Distiller for every single person. A single, strategically placed Distiller can upgrade multiple alchemy tables simultaneously, as long as all the tables and the Distiller sit within that same bonfire radius!
