PoE2 Lineage Support Gems Guide | POE2DB BASED

Lineage Support gems are a new category of support stone introduced in Patch 0.5.0. Their function is deceptively simple: they let you staple the combat behavior of a legendary endgame boss directly onto your own skills. Killed Tul and survived his freezing projectile wall? Cool: now your projectiles do that.

The database contains 21 confirmed variants, distributed across four faction groups. Linguistic and lore analysis of their names makes the design intent clear: each gem is named after a specific boss, deity, or entity of Wraeclast, and its effect mirrors that entity's signature attack pattern or elemental behavior.

These aren't just flavor names. GGG actually mapped boss mechanics to support behavior. Tul's Avalanche on a projectile skill behaves like Tul's arena attack. This is either the coolest design decision in PoE2 or a war crime against balance: probably both.

The broader design thesis: endgame content should change your character permanently. Defeating a faction boss no longer just drops loot: it drops the ability to assimilate their combat mechanics. The Ocean Exploration mechanic (where you fight Uhtred, Vorana, and equivalents) is the primary delivery system for these PoE 2 leveling boost pieces.

All 21 Gems: Full Faction Breakdown

Here's every confirmed Lineage Support from the Poe2DB crawl, grouped by the faction they belong to. Count them. Yes, there are really 21. No, we don't know what half of them do yet. Welcome to pre-release data mining.

Of the 21 gems, the Poe2DB data gives us confirmed behavioral intel on one, and strong lore-inference on several others. Here's the honest breakdown instead of PoE 2 build boost:

The naming logic is consistent across all gems: possessive name + a behavior noun. "Tul's Avalanche" = Tul + avalanche behavior. "Medved's Felling" = Medved + felling (to knock down). Once you internalize that pattern, you can make reasonable predictions for the gems with no data yet: which is all the Poe2DB analysis can honestly offer right now.

How to Get Lineage Supports

The acquisition loop is directly tied to the content they reference. Defeating the faction boss associated with a gem is the primary drop source. This is intentional: you absorb the power of what you kill. Very PoE.

• Breach faction gems (Tul, Esh, Uhtred, Vorana, Breachlord): drop from their respective Breach encounters at endgame map tiers. The Ocean Exploration mechanic specifically calls out Uhtred and Vorana as sources in the 0.5.0 data.
• Expedition & Wildwood gems (Medved, Morrigan): tied to Expedition remnant encounters and Wildwood events: the same content that originally introduced these characters.
• Otherworld & Delirium gems (Tangmazu, Trickster, Seraph): expected from Simulacrum and Delirium mirror encounters at depth.
• Uncategorized gems: likely distributed across the broader Atlas boss pool. Expect a grind. Prototype Seventeen in particular is almost certainly gated behind something GGG hasn't announced yet.

Set up the new Fragment Stash Tab (also added in 0.5.0) before farming. It stores Simulacrum and Rift Fragments: the same content that drops Delirium-category Lineage Supports. Don't skip this QoL step or you will suffer.

All 21 gems are tradeable. If you're not farming the relevant content, the trade market will have them: at a price that will make you briefly consider farming the content after PoE 2 bundle boost.

Lineage Supports are support gems: they need a skill to plug into. Patch 0.5.0 shipped 21 new active skills and 20+ new support gems alongside them, several of which are obvious pairing targets.

Ascendancy Synergies

Both new Ascendancies introduced in 0.5.0 have direct synergy hooks with PoE 2 boss boost:

• Martial Artist (Monk): summons illusory bells via body-implanted runes during unarmed combat. Synergizes with Facebreaker Gloves (redesigned for 0.5.0). Breach faction Lineage Supports that add elemental fields to attacks (Tul's, Esh's) extend the bell detonation's reach significantly.
• Spirit Walker (Huntress): operates through Stag / Owl / Bear stances, summoning spectral companions. Sylvan's Effigy removes companion type restrictions. Morrigan's Insight and Seraph's Heart (Otherworld/Delirium) both thematically match the spectral-summon playstyle and likely amplify companion behavior.
