Rocket League Season 23 Tier List: Ranks & Cars, Ranked

This Rocket League tier list exists because the community's usual advice is vibes, not data. Season 23 launched June 10, 2026, wrapped in a FIFA World Cup theme, a new arena, and the same brutal ranking math as always. Nothing about the World Cup skin changes how you climb. Only two things do: your MMR and the car you stubbornly refuse to switch off.

The Full Rank Ladder

Rocket League Season 23 keeps the 22-rank, 8-tier structure intact. Each tier below Supersonic Legend splits into three sub-ranks, each of those into four divisions. That is 84 divisions standing between you and bragging rights. Here is the ladder, lowest to highest.

Tier

Sub-Ranks

Approx. 3v3 MMR

What It Says About You

Bronze

I – III

0–350

Still learning which button boosts.

Silver

I – III

350–500

Aware boost exists, misuses it constantly.

Gold

I – III

500–650

The game's largest, comfiest cul-de-sac.

Platinum

I – III

650–800

Slightly above average, insufferably proud of it.

Diamond

I – III

800–1000

First rank where ball chasing gets punished.

Champion

I – III

1000–1250

Mechanics arrive, rotation still optional apparently.

Grand Champion

I – III

1250–1600

Genuinely good, still blames teammates.

Supersonic Legend

none

1600+

Top ~0.05% of the player base, no divisions, just ego.

Reaching Grand Champion puts you ahead of nearly everyone who will ever read this sentence. Reaching Supersonic Legend means the game stops giving you divisions to climb and just ranks you against a leaderboard of similarly unemployed people.

How Rocket League Ranks Actually Work

The Rocket League ranking system runs on MMR, a hidden number nobody sees until Grand Champion I, tracked separately per playlist. Your 1v1 rank has nothing to do with your 3v3 rank, which is the game's polite way of telling you that being carried in a team sport is not a transferable skill.

Every new season applies a soft reset: your Rocket League MMR compresses toward the average, then you replay ten placement matches per playlist. Nothing is wiped, it just quietly humbles you back toward the middle, which is more mercy than you deserve after three months of tilt-queuing.

Hitbox Tier List: The Cars That Actually Matter

Every car in the game has identical speed, acceleration, and boost consumption. The only variable is the hitbox, so any best Rocket League cars list that ranks paint jobs instead of collision boxes is lying to you for ad revenue.

Tier

Hitbox / Car

Why It's There

S

Octane / Fennec (Octane hitbox)

Tallest hitbox, most forgiving 50/50s, used by the vast majority of pros. Fennec is the same car wearing a boxier costume.

A

Dominus (Dominus hitbox)

Flatter, longer, brutal for flicks and power shots. Punishes bad aerial timing harder than the others.

B

Hybrid (Endo, Sentinel, Animus GP)

A compromise between Octane and Dominus. Competent at everything, exceptional at nothing.

B

Plank (Batmobile, Mantis, Paladin)

Wide, flat, great for flicks, clumsy for recovery. A specialist's toy, not a beginner's tool.

C

Breakout

Longest hitbox in the game. Excellent for clears, actively hostile toward precise aerial touches.

C

Merc

Tallest, clunkiest, best suited to goalkeeping. Everyone else should avoid it entirely.

Rocket League hitboxes are the only stat that matters, and Octane wins because its visual model happens to align with its own collision box better than most. That is the entire secret. There is no hidden car with better acceleration hiding in the garage tab.

How To Climb Rocket League Ranks Without Blaming the Servers

Here is how to climb Rocket League ranks, condensed for people allergic to reading forum threads written by unemployed teenagers.

  1. Pick one hitbox and stay on it for a full season. Car-hopping resets your muscle memory every single match.
  2. Master rotation before mechanics. The Platinum-to-Diamond gap is decision-making, not aerial ability.
  3. Play your ten placements seriously. A strong start beats grinding back up from a self-inflicted hole.
  4. Log off after three straight losses. MMR does not care that you "played well," only that you lost.
  5. Review your last three losses in replay before queuing again. Most stagnation is a decision problem wearing a mechanics costume.

The gap between Champion and Grand Champion is not talent. It is the willingness to stop challenging 50/50s you were always going to lose.

Season 23 Rank Distribution

The Rocket League ranks distribution has not moved much this season. Gold and Platinum still hold roughly half the player base, meaning statistically, you are exactly where everyone else is: average, and furious about it.

Tier

Approx. Share of Players

Bronze–Silver

~15%

Gold–Platinum

~49%

Diamond

~20%

Champion

~12%

Grand Champion

~3.5%

Supersonic Legend

~0.05%

Does Rocket League rank reset every season?
