Arrowhead confirms Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40k Legendary Warbond at Warhammer Skulls 2026. Bolters, power armor, and grimdark chaos: coming later thi
During the Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase, Arrowhead director Mikael Eriksson walked on stage and confirmed what fans have been demanding since launch: a Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond. No release date. No full reveal. Just a teaser and a promise it's "coming later this year." Typical.
This is the third Legendary Warbond after Killzone and Halo 3: ODST, which means Arrowhead now casually owes you Space Marines. The announcement arrived while the game's Steam reviews sit at "Mostly Negative." Good timing, gentlemen.
Official quote from Eriksson: "At Arrowhead, we believe these two worlds fit perfectly together, and as a studio of diehard Warhammer fans, we are beyond thrilled to see this Legendary Warbond come to life."
Helldivers 2 is, structurally, a love letter to the Astra Militarum. Expendable conscripts. Fascist propaganda dressed as patriotism. Overwhelming odds. Friendly fire. The only difference is that Super Earth's soldiers get respawns and Guardsmen do not: though both treat their lives with equivalent disregard.

40K Years of Grimdark |
Warhammer 40K's grimdark universe is not a stretch: it's the same hallway. Both franchises treat massive alien wars as background noise, both glorify the soldier's irrelevance, and both demand you die repeatedly for an empire that doesn't know your name. The DNA is identical.
Arrowhead hasn't confirmed specifics, but if the Halo ODST Warbond template holds: and it will, because studios love templates: expect the following:
Don't get ahead of yourself. Space Marine armor on a 6-foot human Helldiver makes zero anatomical sense: Astartes are genetically modified demigods in suits the size of a small car. GameSpot already reported Arrowhead is aware of this contradiction. You'll get the aesthetic. You will not become a walking tank. Manage accordingly.

No. Stop asking. |
Community speculation centers on Space Marine chapters like the Ultramarines, Blood Angels, and Space Wolves as the three most commercially recognizable. GamingBolt named all three. The community wants Death Guard. They will not get Death Guard.
The Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) is, ironically, the more thematically accurate choice. A Guardsman is a Helldiver with worse equipment and no extract shuttle. Both will die for a flag they've never seen. If Arrowhead wants to honor the lore rather than the action figure shelf, they'll put Kasrkin armor in the Warbond and call it a day.

Legendary Warbonds cost 1,500 Super Credits: 50% more than a standard Premium Warbond at 1,000. Based on the Helldivers 2 Legendary Warbond precedent set by ODST, you unlock items by spending Medals earned through missions. You can earn Super Credits in-game, but if patience isn't your virtue, the smallest real-money bundle runs about $10.
Once purchased, you work through pages by spending Medals. Armor, weapons, capes, and cosmetics are locked behind increasing Medal gates: so no, you can't sprint straight to the chainsword on day one. Super Credits buy access. Medals unlock content. Suffering is the subtext.
The announcement dropped while Helldivers 2 Steam reviews sit at "Mostly Negative." The most recent Warbond introduced two new Exosuits alongside balance changes that the playerbase received like a Terminid hive drop: badly. Arrowhead published an apologetic blog post acknowledging issues with communication, meta-progression, and the Galactic War system.
The Warhammer reveal is either a genuine celebration from Arrowhead's admitted diehard fans: or emergency glass, broken publicly. Both can be true. The crossover is real either way, and grimdark content arriving during a grimdark period for the game is, if nothing else, appropriate.
For the record: Previous Legendary Warbonds (Killzone, Halo ODST) were received positively when they dropped. IP crossovers do not fix balance. They do, however, make the grind more tolerable when you're dressed as a Blood Angel.
Helldivers 2 is a Warhammer 40k comparison you didn't ask for written in neon lights. Super Earth is the Imperium: incompetent, authoritarian, sustained entirely by propaganda and the blood of soldiers who volunteer with a smile because they've been brainwashed into doing so. The Terminids are Tyranids. The Automatons are Necrons, conceptually. The Illuminate are Tau who actually negotiated before stabbing you.
The only meaningful difference: Warhammer's Imperium openly acknowledges it's a horror show. Super Earth hasn't gotten there yet. It will.

Arrowhead confirms Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40k Legendary Warbond at Warhammer Skulls 2026. Bolters, power armor, and grimdark chaos: coming later thi

No date confirmed. Arrowhead said "later in 2026." Plan accordingly. Don't hold your breath.
No. You get the armor aesthetic. Actual Astartes biology doesn't fit a Helldiver body. Canonically or physically.
Likely 1,500 Super Credits, based on previous Legendary Warbonds. Earn in-game or pay roughly $10.
Bolter-style primary, possible chainsword melee option. Nothing confirmed yet. Speculate responsibly.
Yes. Third Legendary Warbond overall, after Killzone and Halo 3: ODST. This one's the biggest ask.
