Escape from Tarkov 2026 Roadmap: Everything BSG Actually Announced
The Icebreaker map is live and locked behind the Boreas questline. Here's the full quest chain: Ground Zero, Woods, Lighthouse, Reserve
Battlestate dropped a nuclear-powered icebreaker into Tarkov and hid the door key behind a multi-map quest chain. Escape from Tarkov Icebreaker unlock requires running the Boreas story chapter. It is not optional. It is not short. Here is exactly how it works.
No random players. Icebreaker (the ship "Boreas") runs PvE-only: you and up to two friends vs AI. Insurance also does not work there. Budget accordingly.
CRINGEBLOG WILL GIVE YOU A HUGE DISCOUNT FOR Escape from Tarkov bundles AT OUR SHOP. AND WHEN I SAY FOR EVERY. IT MEANS REALLY EVERY!
Battlestate gave you two ways in. One requires actual Hideout investment. The other requires finding a poster. You choose which pain you prefer.

Both paths converge on the same Boreas questline EFT. There is no shortcut past the quests themselves: the Intel Center just gets you started without the poster hunt.
Every step below is required. Skipping maps is not possible. The Escape from Tarkov boost new map quest chain touches four locations before you ever see the ship.
MAP: GROUND ZERO
Head to the central Terragroup building. The poster spawns on the second floor near the main staircase: same general area as the hard drive for early quests. Multiple spawn points exist. Note it, extract, go talk to Mechanic.
[i]Run it as a Scav first if you want to scout without risking gear. The poster doesn't require hands-on interaction that risks a wipe.
TRADER MENU
Mechanic intercepted a distress signal. You found a poster about Paradigm Shipping. He puts two and two together and gives you your first field task. He does the nerdy analysis. You do the legwork. Classic arrangement.
MAP: WOODS // SCAV BUNKER (top-left corner)
Bring a Toolkit. No toolkit, wasted raid, simple as that. The Scav Bunker sits in the top-left of the map and gets regular PvP traffic. The EFT Boreas Woods task is straightforward but the location is not quiet. Repair the equipment at the cellular tower, extract, report back.
[!]Forgetting the Toolkit is a time-honored Tarkov tradition. Don't honor that tradition.
MAP: LIGHTHOUSE // RAIL STATION (north of Water Treatment Plant)
Inside the main hangar of the railway station, shipping documentation sits on a table. Grab it. Lighthouse players running Test Drive or Punisher have been farming this map for years: they will notice you. The Lighthouse Boreas documents location is not a secret for long.
DEPENDS ON YOUR TRADER HISTORY
After Mechanic reviews the documents, you need vehicle access. This is where the chain splits. Your prior choices with traders determine which path is open to you. Both paths eventually reach the same ship: they just charge you differently for the privilege.
If you stayed loyal to the BTR Driver and completed his taskline, the BTR Driver Icebreaker transit option simply unlocks in his trader menu. Go to your Hideout, open the interface, done. If you sided with Skier at some point, you will need to hand over ammo as a peace offering first. If you skipped the BTR taskline entirely, expect an elimination task in Smuggler territory before the Driver agrees to cooperate.
The Prapor branch requires helicopter oil found on Reserve. Three confirmed spawn locations:
You only need one. Which spawn is relevant to you depends on your history with The Ticket quest. The Reserve helicopter oil spawn locations are fixed: check all three if the first is empty.
[X]Prapor gets you supplies. Prapor does not get you to the ship. You still need the BTR Driver's transit regardless of which Prapor tasks you complete. Do not confuse the two.
Once the BTR Driver's transit is unlocked, the access point is on Shoreline at the pier. The Icebreaker transit Shoreline pier costs 400,000 Escape from Tarkov currency boost per entry. Not a rounding error. Budget for it.

No. The transit requires completing the chain. Intelligence Center LL3 only skips the poster step, not the quests.
No. Traders will send mail saying their people "didn't find it." Your gear is gone. Accept it.
Second floor of the central Terragroup building, near the main staircase. Multiple spawn points, same area.
No, but skipping it means extra tasks before he cooperates. Prior loyalty is rewarded with fewer steps.
No. PvE only: you, up to two teammates, and AI enemies including a new boss. No player raids.
