Diablo 4 Season 14 Leveling Guide: 1-70 Fast
Season 14 broke leveling twice. Hellworm maggot XP abuse and Undercity orb spam will get your character to 70 in one hour. Guide is live. Go ruin...

Season 14 broke leveling in two separate directions and Blizzard left both of them in. You can hit level 70 in under 90 minutes without a pre-existing gear stash, without a specific class, and without understanding what you are doing. This guide explains both methods so you can pick whichever one offends your sense of fair play less.
Before you touch anything, set your account to Lord of Hatred Campaign Completed (endgame state). Playing through the campaign is a lifestyle choice, not a leveling strategy. Start in the Seasonal Realm and pick up your mercenary immediately. Subo reveals enemies on the map. Set your reinforcement to Ire. Activate your pet. You will forget; this is the reminder.
This is the fast one. The Diablo 4 Season 14 leveling guide meta is built entirely around this loop: farm cinders on Normal, open chests on Penitent, collect the inflated XP, then murder worms. The switcheroo is the whole trick.
You want a double Helltide War Plan from character creation. No double Helltide? Make a new character or accept being 10 minutes slower. Your call.
The target is reaching Writhe and Rot in your Helltide War Plan tree. Each completed Helltide node on Normal difficulty gives 25 activity XP. On Penitent it gives 43, and two of them stack to 90 for reasons Blizzard apparently cannot explain either. You need 350 total activity XP to unlock two War Plan points. On Normal that is 14 Helltides. On Penitent with the switcheroo, you get there in 8. The math does the argument for you.
If you die on Penitent mid-chest-run, you lose the cinders and the plan. Enemies near chests will ruin your day. Find isolated chests. Mount up. Do not be a hero.
Every 10 levels, check the weapon vendor at the bottom of Temys. Your damage will fall behind faster than your level because fast leveling Diablo 4 does not give your gear time to keep up. A fresh vendor weapon often doubles your item power. Buy it. Keep moving.
Once Writhe and Rot is unlocked, Hellworm farming Season 14 begins. Switch to Hard difficulty. Not Penitent. Not Expert. Hard. Death on higher difficulties resets your threat meter and kills your momentum entirely.
Hellworms erupt from fixed ground positions once your threat meter reaches two-thirds full. Their spawn locations are publicly mapped on helltides.com as green circles. Open that site. Memorize the circles in your zone. Ride the loop. Hellworms surface, spew maggots, maggots carry +1 monster power, maggots die, XP floods in. Aberrant Cinders farm runs in the background automatically as you do this.

When your threat meter maxes and triggers an ambush, ignore Hellborn enemies. Open chests instead to rebuild the meter faster, kill some champions, then resume riding the Hellworm loop. During a live ambush, Pangs of Fury also spawn. On Expert or Penitent these will kill you. On Hard they are annoying. Stay on Hard.
One tested run went from level 35 to 70 in 20 minutes using Hellworm loops. That is 35 levels in the time it takes to watch a sitcom episode.
For players who find Helltide navigation too chaotic, Undercity XP farm Diablo 4 is the alternative. It is slightly slower overall, but it is consistent and brainless, which has its own appeal.
The mechanic is simple. The Jade Epiphany War Plan node makes the Kurast Undercity rain experience orbs every time you gain an Attunement level. You get four Attunement rings per run. Four bursts of orbs per three-minute sprint. On Hard, that is three to four character levels per run. Kurast Undercity leveling is mathematically clean in a way that Hellworms never are.
The catch: Undercity only unlocks at level 25. Before that, you are not welcome.
Do not rush into full Undercity runs immediately. First, complete three to four bare Undercity runs—run through, reach the boss, get the activity check. Do not bother with Attunement. These runs bank enough activity XP to unlock the Jade Epiphany node. Once it is unlocked, the real farm starts.

Switch to Hard (Expert if you are surviving comfortably). War Plan XP boost from Jade Epiphany turns every Attunement milestone into an XP bomb. Destroy everything between beacons. Kill the boss. Leave. Repeat. Infernal Hordes are a trap; avoid them. They take too long for the XP they return.

New character means a reset War Plan tree. This is permanent and non-negotiable. The War Plan optimization Diablo 4 priority is: Helltide nodes first, Undercity second, everything else last. Nightmare Dungeons are passable filler. Infernal Hordes are a waste of your finite time on Earth. Lair Boss runs are statistically the worst War Plan activity available and should be treated accordingly.
Every completed War Plan step grants a minimum of 100,000 XP. Submitting a full plan adds bonus rewards on top. Stack activities that simultaneously satisfy Whisper objectives. Running something exclusively for War Plans, when it contributes nothing else, is inefficient. Stop doing it.
The Diablo 4 leveling guide all classes truth nobody says clearly: your weapon will always be outdated. You are leveling too fast for drops to keep pace. The vendor at the bottom of Temys exists precisely for this. Check it every 10 levels. A vendor weapon at your current level often provides double the item power you have been carrying. Buy it without sentiment. Legendary Aspects from your account can be imprinted onto vendor blues using the Horadric Cube. Do that instead of hoarding gear that is already obsolete.
Survivability matters more than damage output. A character that dies constantly rebuilds threat meters and loses momentum. Keep Life bonuses on your armor, maintain adequate Armor values, and ignore encounters that give minimal XP per second. An efficient corpse is still a corpse.
The Helltide method does not expire at 70. If you unlocked Writhe and Rot and have your Helltide War Plans built out, the first 100 Paragon points come in at the same pace. Do not stop to run Capstone Dungeons mid-grind. Hit 70, then blow through both Capstones in minutes and enter Torment. Season 14 portals inside active Helltides grant additional cinders and Season Board reputation, making Helltide chest farming more rewarding post-70 than it was during leveling.

Farm cinders on any lower difficulty. Open chests on Penitent. Return to normal. Plan credits as Penitent-cleared regardless.
Death on Expert resets your threat meter. Rebuilding it loses more time than the marginal XP bonus gains back.
Fixed map positions shown as green circles on helltides.com. Memorize the loop in your active zone and ride it repeatedly.
Yes, with more caution. Stay on Hard during Hellworms. Flee immediately on Penitent after opening chests. Death is permanent here.
Slower to 70, but more consistent. Hellworms spike harder in the final 35 levels. Undercity suits players who die a lot.
