Obducite got nerfed in Season 12: but the infinite escalation rota still works. Here's the best Diablo 4 Obducite farming guide updated for Season of
Season 12 of Diablo 4, officially dubbed Season of Slaughter, launched on February 20, 2026. Within the first week, the community hit a hard wall: not gear, not difficulty, but Obducite. Blizzard significantly nerfed Obducite drop rates from Horadric Strongrooms while simultaneously raising the storage cap to 99,999,999. The good news: once you know the rights, farming recovers fast. This guide shows you exactly how to how to get Obducite Diablo 4 efficiently: even after the nerfs.

Obducite is the primary crafting material required to masterwork your gear through ranks 1–4 in Diablo 4. While players occasionally run short of Forgotten Souls, Obducite is consistently the resource that hard-blocks endgame progression. Every time you push a new Torment tier and want to upgrade your equipment, you will need: and likely run out of: Obducite.
In Season 12, Blizzard significantly nerfed Obducite yields from Horadric Strongrooms, forcing players to combine multiple farming methods to maintain a healthy stockpile. However, several powerfuls still exist, and the best Obducite farming method in Season 12 is more efficient than ever if you know where to look.
This guide covers every viable source: the Diablo 4 nightmare dungeon escalation infinite, Treasure Breach dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Kurast Undercity: ranked, explained, and cross-referenced so you can pick the approach that fits your playstyle.

from almost any activity and can be crafted at the Occultist, but the affix is always random. The strategic answer is to save all your Sigil Powder until you reach Torment 4, where valuable affixes roll more frequently.
Save every Treasure Breach and Mythic Prankster sigil you find. These are also prime candidates for the upcoming March of the Goblins event, when goblin spawns are supercharged across the board.
The D4 strong room nightmare dungeon is the backbone of sustainable Obducite farming. This is the Diablo 4 infinite escalation rota that the community has refined over multiple seasons: and it remains viable in Season 12 despite the Strongroom yield nerf. A single Strongroom on Torment 4 with max Attunement still delivers approximately 800–2,500 Obducite from the end chest.
The key is that Strongrooms and Escalating Sigils feed each other: completing a Strongroom gives you an Escalating Sigil, and running that Escalation gives you a high chance of dropping more Strongroom sigils. Run in a group of four and this can sustain itself indefinitely. See the full breakdown in the Infinite section below.
Infernal Hordes are excellent for players who want to farm both Obducite and high-quality gear simultaneously. At the end of each Horde run, spend your Burning Aether on the Spoils of Materials chest (consumes all Obducite, so prioritize over other chests) and the Spoils of Greater Equipment chest (requires 400x Aether). While the raw Obducite yield per run is lower than a Treasure Breach dungeon: roughly 200+ per run at lower tiers: the consistent Greater Affix item drops make Hordes ideal for simultaneous gear and material progression.
Longer farming sessions often mix Treasure Breach Nightmare Dungeons with Infernal Hordes to balance huge RNG spikes from goblins with the steady income from Hordes.
The Kurast Undercity is the premier D4 group farming Obducite destination for players who own the Vessel of Hatred expansion. This multi-stage, timed dungeon rewards coordination: killing enemies extends the timer, increasing your Attunement rank, which directly scales the final reward chest. Using a Tribute of Refinement before entering guarantees Masterworking materials and can double the payout.
With Torment 4 difficulty and Rank 4 Attunement, a successful Kurast Undercity run typically yields 2,000–5,000+ Obducite. Without a Tribute of Refinement, expect around 300+ per run. Don't have the expansion? Find a friend who does: rewards are shared equally in group runs.

If you've accumulated higher-tier Masterworking materials like Ingolith or Neathiron and find yourself short on Obducite, the Alchemist offers transmutation: convert excess higher-tier materials down into Obducite. This is not a primary farming method but a useful safety valve when your is temporarily dry.
The has two modes depending on which sigil type you're currently running. Understanding the distinction between a Strongroom sigil and an Escalating Nightmare Sigil is essential to running the efficiently.

Enter the dungeon, rush directly to the Strongroom: look for purple markers or treasure chests on the minimap. Once you reach the D4 strong room nightmare dungeon, clear the enemies and open the end chest. This is the primary Diablo 4 strong room chest Obducite delivery mechanism: the chest provides the bulk of your Obducite per run (roughly 800+ on T4, up to 2,500 with max Attunement). You do not need to clear the rest of the dungeon. Exit immediately after looting.
The Diablo 4 escalation sigil run has a different goal: find a Strongroom inside the escalation (RNG, not guaranteed) and defeat the final boss Asteroth. The boss has a high chance to drop 2 new Nightmare Sigils, and these sigils often carry the Horadric Strongroom affix: resetting the. Don't worry about what the escalation modifier says (gems, all bulls, etc.): just clear it as fast as possible and prioritize the boss kill. The escalation itself also has okayish side rewards depending on its random modifiers.
Your whole group is only as fast as the slowest player. Prioritize speed. Accept all floor transitions immediately: every second of downtime costs Obducite per hour.
Solo players can run the, but sustaining it indefinitely relies on favorable RNG. In a 4-player group, the math changes dramatically: if each player has sigils and two drop Strongroom sigils per run, the party maintains a constant supply without ever running dry. This is why the D4 group farming Obducite approach is the standard recommendation: it converts an RNG-dependent into a near-guaranteed sustainable rotation.
Finding a group is easier than it sounds. Try the Diablo Sanctuary Discord, the in-game Party Finder, Diablo Facebook groups, Reddit threads, or simply ask in world chat. Many streamers also welcome viewers into their farming groups during live sessions.

Obducite only drops on Torment 4 (T4) difficulty. If you're not there yet, push your Paragon levels, gear, and Torment tier before attempting any dedicated Obducite farm. Higher difficulty also rolls better Nightmare Sigil affixes at the Occultist, making your crafting investment more efficient.
Head to the Occultist and craft or re-roll Nightmare Sigils until you land one bearing the Horadric Strongroom affix. Alternatively, keep any Strongroom sigils you've picked up from previous activities: Helltide, Whisper Caches, and world drops can all yield them. This first sigil is your entry point. Escalating Nightmare Dungeon Sigils also guarantee a Horadric Strongroom, so save those too.
Save Treasure Breach and Mythic Prankster sigils separately: do not use them in your rotation. Store them for jackpot sessions or the March of the Goblins event.
While solo play is possible, the infinite is far more reliable with a 4-player group. Use these resources to find teammates:
Always accept floor transitions immediately. Never leave mid-run after someone has opened their sigil. If a player is consistently slowing the group, finish the run, say GGs, and reform: don't kick during an active run.
Enter with your Strongroom sigil. Rush past trash mobs: do not stop to clear everything. Navigate to the Strongroom (purple chest markers on the minimap), defeat the enemies inside, and loot the Diablo 4 strong room chest Obducite. This chest is the primary Obducite delivery mechanism. Picking up drops from random mobs gives you barely anything by comparison: those are crumbs. Once you've looted the chest, exit the dungeon immediately.
The Strongroom chest has a high chance to drop a Diablo 4 escalation sigil. Use it immediately. Inside the Escalating Nightmare Dungeon, you may discover another Strongroom (bonus Obducite + another sigil). Whether or not an internal Strongroom spawns, always defeat the final boss Asteroth: he has a high chance to drop 2 new Nightmare Sigils, usually with the Strongroom affix, which resets the. Rush through the Escalation as fast as possible; speed directly determines your Obducite-per-hour rate.
Over time you'll accumulate sigils that don't have the Strongroom affix. Salvage them at the Occultist for Sigil Powder, then craft new sigils in batches. Do not run non-Strongroom dungeons as part of your Obducite: it's a waste of time. Keep the following sigil types separated:
When your sigil pool runs temporarily low, or when you want to also progress your gear, slot in Infernal Hordes and Kurast Undercity runs. Longer farming sessions benefit from mixing all three methods: the provides steady consistent Obducite, Treasure Breach dungeons provide massive RNG spikes, and Infernal Hordes/Kurast provide steady income alongside gear upgrades for D4 masterwork gear materials accumulation.

The fastest Obducite farmers in Season 12 run high-AoE, high-mobility builds. Nightmare Dungeons reward speed above all else: killing trash faster means reaching Strongrooms sooner and completing mores per hour. Currently, Paladin (Crusader) is widely considered the strongest carry class, capable of pulling the entire group through content with minimal resistance. Any build with strong AoE clear and dash/movement skills will perform well. Prioritize movement speed on your gear rolls.
Your Attunement level inside Strongrooms and Kurast Undercity directly impacts the final chest reward. Max Attunement on T4 can push Strongroom yields up to ~2,500 Obducite vs. the base ~800. Focus on killing enemies efficiently within the Strongroom itself to maximize your Attunement rank before the chest spawns.
Never craft Nightmare Sigils below Torment 4. The affix pool at lower tiers makes rolling Treasure Breach or Horadric Strongroom significantly less likely. Hoard your Sigil Powder and craft in large batches once you're on T4.
"Bloody" escalation modifiers reduce some rewards but are still worth completing for the sigil continuation: don't skip them just because the modifier seems bad.
Clearing the full Nightmare Dungeon beyond the Strongroom gives negligible Obducite. Unless you're completely out of Sigil Powder and need to stockpile it, exit immediately after looting the Strongroom chest. Every extra minute in a dungeon is a missed cycle.

Horadric Strongroom Obducite rewards have been significantly reduced compared to previous seasons. The overall strategy still works, but you will need more cycles to achieve the same totals as Season 11. Compensate by mixing in Treasure Breach dungeons and Infernal Hordes.
Blizzard typically runs the March of the Goblins event near the end of March. During this event, goblin spawns are dramatically increased across all content: making Treasure Breach and Mythic Prankster sigils worth dramatically more than usual. Save these rare sigils and use them during the event for a massive Obducite windfall. If the event hasn't hit yet this cycle, don't burn your stockpile.
Use this reference to choose the right farming activity for your situation. All yields assume Torment 4 difficulty and a reasonably well-geared character

Treasure Breach Nightmare Dungeons offer the highest single-run yield, with each Treasure Goblin dropping 600–1,500 Obducite. Combine this with the Strongroom for sustainable daily farming.
Solo farming works but the isn't reliably infinite alone due to RNG sigil drops. A 4-player group makes the escalation rota sustainable, with multiple sigil drops refilling the pool constantly.
Blizzard intentionally nerfed Horadric Strongroom Obducite yields in Season 12 to slow gear progression. The cap increased to 99,999,999 but individual run rewards dropped significantly versus Season 11.
Escalating Sigils drop from Horadric Strongroom end chests and from the boss Asteroth at the end of Escalating Nightmare Dungeons. Craft or re-roll sigils at the Occultist if your supply runs low.
No expansion is needed for the Strongroom or Treasure Breach dungeons. Vessel of Hatred unlocks Kurast Undercity, which adds another strong source: especially valuable for group sessions.
