Diablo 4 x DOOM: The Dark Ages crossover launches with Season 12. Earn free Reliquary loot, claim DOOM emblems & buy Slayer cosmetics today!

The Diablo 4 × DOOM: The Dark Ages™ crossover is a limited-time event that drops alongside Season 12: the ominously named "Season of Slaughter" — starting March 11, 2026 at 10 AM PT. It runs until at least March 18 for the free Reliquary event. The collaboration shoves a bunch of DOOM-themed cosmetic items into Sanctuary's already bloated wardrobe, ranging from free earnable goodies to premium "please open your wallet and weep quietly" shop items.
Because nothing says "medieval dark fantasy" quite like strapping a cybernetic chainsaw shield to your Necromancer.
Both franchises are literally about ripping demons apart in increasingly creative ways, so the crossover actually makes thematic sense — which is more than we can say for that time they put StarCraft skins in this game. DOOM: The Dark Ages already leans into a medieval aesthetic, blending swords, shields, and occult imagery with sci-fi brutality. It fits Sanctuary's vibe like a gauntlet fits a fist.
Let's start with the part that won't require you to sell a kidney. Blizzard has graced us with what they describe as "the most expansive earnable Reliquary yet." This is the Event Reliquary, and it contains 10 DOOM-themed cosmetic rewards that you can unlock by farming a new currency called — wait for it — Dark Ages Currencyv1. Inspired naming, truly.
You earn Dark Ages Currency by doing what you already do in Diablo 4: murdering everything that moves. Specifically, you need to kill Elite and Champion monsters. They drop the currency. That's it. No puzzle. No riddle. Just violence. The way the Doom Slayer would want it.
Once you've hoarded enough of this currency, you spend it in the Event Reliquary to claim individual rewards in whatever order you like. Collect all 10 and you unlock the grand prize at the end. The known Reliquary rewards include:
Shield Saw: A cosmetic shield skin. It's a circular saw. You put it on your arm. Subtlety is dead and you killed it.
Slayer's Flail: A melee weapon transmog that makes your bonk stick look like it belongs in a DOOM game. Because it does now.
Head of the Cyberdemon: A back trophy. You literally wear a demon's severed head on your back like a backpack from hell.
Various other weapon transmogs: Multiple DOOM-inspired weapon skins across the 10 reward slots.
Forsaken Gates Town Portal: The ultimate reward for clearing all 10 items. A DOOM-themed portal that tells everyone in town you have no life and you're proud of it.
On top of the Reliquary grind, there's a bonus loot mechanic. When you kill Lair Bosses during the event, they have a chance to drop a special DOOM Chest. These chests contain existing Unique weapons that have been given DOOM Crucible-themed transmogs — making them look like the iconic energy blade from DOOM Eternal. So yes, your regular old Unique now looks like a lightsaber made of hellfire. You're welcome.

Blizzard is also giving away three DOOM-themed emblems in the in-game shop, staggered across the first week. They cost zero currency, zero platinum, zero dollars. You just need to remember to claim them. Which, knowing the average gamer, means about 40% of you will forget and then complain on Reddit. The schedule:
March 11, 12 PM PT: "Dark Before the Dawn" emblem
March 13, 12 PM PT: "Grandeur of the Gutted" emblem (what a name)
March 15, 12 PM PT: "Rip and Tear" emblem (the only emblem that matters)
Three free emblems spread across five days. Blizzard is practically a charity at this point.
Now we arrive at the real event: the ritualistic extraction of money from your bank account. Starting March 12 at 12 PM PT (one day after the season drops, giving you just enough time to get emotionally invested before they hit you with the price tag), the in-game shop will offer premium DOOM cosmetics.
The premium shop items include:
Doom Slayer Armor Skin: A universal skin that works across ALL character classes. Yes, your Druid can look like the Doom Slayer. Your Necromancer can look like the Doom Slayer. Everyone is the Doom Slayer. Identity is meaningless.
Mecha Dragon Serrat Mount Skin: A mount skin that transforms your cat mount into a mechanical dragon. Note: this ONLY works on the cat mount. If you don't have a cat mount, congratulations, you get to spend money on that first.
Cacodemon Pet: A little floating meatball demon that follows you around. It does nothing. It contributes nothing. You will want it immediately.
Blizzard hasn't officially confirmed pricing, but based on the Berserk collaboration from May 2025: where individual armor sets and mount skins cost roughly $25 each, and buying everything would set you back around $150: you can expect similar financial damage here. Industry estimates suggest $20–$30 per item. If you want the Slayer armor, the dragon mount, AND the Cacodemon pet, you're probably looking at $60–$75 total.
A small price to pay for pretending you're in a different, arguably better game.
Listen, I'm not here to judge your life choices. If you're going to grind this event, you might as well do it efficiently. Here's how to maximize your haul without losing your sanity (or all of it, at least):
Step 1: Log in on March 11 at 12 PM PT. Claim the "Dark Before the Dawn" emblem from the shop. It's free. If you can't manage this, I can't help you.
Step 2: Start farming Elites and Champions immediately. Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Lair runs are your best friends. The Dark Ages Currency drops from these enemies, so the more you kill, the faster you fill that Reliquary.
Step 3: Prioritize Lair Bosses. They're the only ones who can drop the special DOOM Chests with Crucible weapon transmogs. These are random drops, so enjoy the dopamine slot machine.
Step 4: Come back on March 13 for the "Grandeur of the Gutted" emblem and March 15 for the "Rip and Tear" emblem. Set alarms. Write it on your hand. Tattoo it on your forearm if necessary.
Step 5: If you want the premium cosmetics, wait until March 12. Evaluate your financial decisions. Look at your bank account. Look at the Doom Slayer armor. Look at your bank account again. Do what you must.
Step 6: Claim all 10 Reliquary rewards to unlock the Forsaken Gates Town Portal. This is your flex. This is how people know you were here. This is the DOOM equivalent of a participation trophy, except it actually looks cool.
And if you manage to do all of this while also leveling the free Paladin trial, maintaining a Killstreak, and transforming into The Butcher: congratulations, you've successfully replaced real life with Sanctuary. Again.

The event launches on March 11, 2026 at 10 AM PT alongside Season 12: Season of Slaughter. The free Event Reliquary runs until at least March 18, 2026. The paid cosmetics become available in the shop starting March 12 at 12 PM PT and are expected to remain available for the season's duration. Free DOOM emblems drop on March 11, 13, and 15: miss them and they're gone, because Blizzard believes in consequences.
You earn Dark Ages Currency by killing Elite and Champion monsters throughout Sanctuary. Every Elite and Champion you butcher has a chance to drop this currency. There's nothing complicated about it: no special quests, no keys, no arcane rituals. Just find Elite enemies in Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, Lairs, or the open world, and murder them with whatever tool of destruction you prefer. Spend the accumulated currency in the Event Reliquary on whichever of the 10 rewards catches your eye first.
Absolutely not. Every single DOOM collaboration item: free or paid: is purely cosmetic. No stat boosts, no damage increases, no secret buffs hidden in the Slayer armor. Blizzard has explicitly confirmed that all DOOM-related content is aesthetic only and introduces zero gameplay imbalances. You will look incredible while being exactly as mediocre as you were before. The Crucible transmogs from DOOM Chests also only change the appearance of existing Unique weapons, not their stats.
Yes to the first, no to the second. The Doom Slayer armor skin is a universal cross-class cosmetic: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, Sorcerer, and even the trial Paladin can all wear it. You do not need to own DOOM: The Dark Ages or any Bethesda product to participate in the crossover. You just need Diablo 4's base game. The Mecha Dragon Serrat mount skin, however, only applies to the cat mount specifically, so if you've been exclusively riding horses, you'll need to acquire a cat mount first before that purchase becomes relevant.
