Destiny 2 Weekly Reset: Root of Nightmares Loot Guide

The Destiny 2 weekly reset for July 21 to July 28 puts Root of Nightmares and Garden of Salvation on featured rotation, which means tier five weapons and armor drop on normal difficulty instead of forcing you into master. The prize everyone actually wants is the Conditional Finality catalyst, a Nezarec drop that bolts Heal Clip and Rimestealer onto a shotgun that was already embarrassing to fight against. Farm this week or explain to yourself later why you didn't.

Destiny 2 Boost

The Root of Nightmares raid is the one worth your patience. Conditional Finality fires Stasis from one barrel and Solar from the other, and the catalyst turns reloads after a final blow into free team healing while frozen kills hand you Frost Armor. Rufus's Fury is the craftable worth chasing here, and the Nezarec's Nightmare armor set rewards void debuff builds with escalating orb generation and a finisher that grants Devour plus damage resistance.

Garden of Salvation is the other featured raid, though its best rewards are locked behind Pantheon rather than the raid itself. The Garden of Salvation Pantheon loot pool includes Reckless Oracle and the Divinity trace rifle, and the Chaos Reshaped version of Reckless Oracle drops exclusively from Pantheon, not the base raid. The Kentarch 3 armor set's four piece bonus grants melee energy to you and nearby allies on weapon final blows, which is the only part of that set worth equipping for.

Pantheon Rotation

The featured reprise this week is Argos, the opening boss of Calus's Spire, chosen for reasons Bungie has not bothered explaining. The featured encore is Morgeth, which lets you skip straight to the final boss and farm a chance at the 1,000 Voices catalyst. Argos drops nothing worth mentioning twice.

Bungie confirmed Monument of Triumph as the final planned content update for Destiny 2. Whatever you loot this week is what you get, permanently, so treat every featured rotation like it might be the last one that matters.

The Ghosts of the Deep dungeon is long and nobody is pretending otherwise, but the Taken King armor set makes the slog worthwhile. Its two piece bonus boosts your super stat during an active Lucent Hive ritual, and the four piece spawns arc moths on ability final blows, which pairs absurdly well with moth focused Hunter exotics.

The Shattered Throne dungeon hasn't been featured since the Monument of Triumph launch week, so this is your actual window if you missed it. The Techeun's Regalia set grants an overshield on finishers and stacking damage resistance as you land final blows, and finishers accelerate your ability recharge at max stacks. This is one of the better neutral game armor sets currently available.

Vanguard and Nightfall

The Vanguard weekly reset rewards include a tier five Main Ingredient with the Accelerated Assault origin trait, which reloads and buffs damage on sustained fire, a genuinely useful roll for anyone still running Fireteam Ops. The Grandmaster Nightfall loot this week comes from Warden of Nothing, dropping the Austere Engine, a stasis grenade launcher that can roll Chain Reaction and Rimestealer for solid area denial.

Qua'l Victis IV: Zavala's Armory Pick

The Qua'l Victis IV god roll conversation starts and ends with magazine size. Killing Tally is one of the strongest machine gun perks in the game, but the damage bonus evaporates the second you reload, so any roll without a magazine increase is a worse roll no matter what else is attached. Tac Mag paired with Built to Blast and Killing Tally covers both PvP and PvE in one gun.

Verdict

Tac Mag, Built to Blast, Killing Tally

PvP and PvE hybrid

Top pick, both god rolls on one roll

Hatchling, Rewind Rounds

Strand PvE sustain

Strong second option with a pinned mag

Slice, Killing Tally, Demolitionist

Strand synergy builds

Good only if paired with a mag increase

The Destiny 2 exotic catalyst farming priority list this week is short. Conditional Finality sits at the top because Root of Nightmares is already featured, so you're farming the exotic and the catalyst on the same clear. Everything else on the reset is filler you can skip without regret.
