Best Hunter Builds for Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph

Two new additions define the post-update Hunter meta. The best Hunter build Destiny 2 players can run today will leverage at least one of them.

Hey, Guardian. We do not have specific offers for Momentum… and as our sorry, we provide you a CRINGEBLOG promocode, it works for every offer. And you can create your custom offer for Momentum almost free.

Ability

Effect

Notes

Crackshot

Solar

Dodge marks 3 targets; fires scorching shots at each. Land all 3 for self-cure.

Synergizes with St0mp-EE5 but doesn't elevate its PvE ceiling.

Phantom Surge

Void

Dash-through melee. Phases enemies, generates Void Overshield, bonus damage to Void-debuffed targets.

Counts as powered melee. Fuels Gyrfalcon loops.

Shatter Grenade

Stasis

Sticks to enemies, bouncing shrapnel, instant shatters frozen targets.

Pairs with FR0ST-EE5's new Frost Armor loop.

Nightstalker's On the Prowl aspect also received a quality-of-life change: it now passively acquires targets after a short delay when not invisible, removing the awkward dead time between stealth windows. Acrobat's Dodge on Gunslinger can now activate mid-air. Small changes, but they matter in Grandmaster Nightfalls where every animation frame costs someone's revive token.

Hunter Exotic Armor Tier List

All post-Edge of Fate Exotics are retroactively Tier 5. Wormhusk Crown was reworked: it now grants Cure on class ability use and Burning Souls stacks from Solar kills. Star-Eater Scales remain the default "never wrong" choice for PvE Super uptime. The rest have conditions.

Tier

Exotic

Slot

Why It's Here

S

Star-Eater Scales

Legs

Bonus Super energy from Orbs, overshield at max overcharge. Works on every Super, every build.

S

Gyrfalcon's Hauberk

Chest

Best Void Hunter exotic. Volatile Rounds on invis exit. Phantom Surge makes its loop even faster.

S

Omnioculus

Chest

Two Smoke Bomb charges, damage resist while invisible, melee energy from making allies invisible. GM default.

A

Wormhusk Crown

Helmet

Reworked. Dodge = Cure + Burning Souls. Relevant on Solar. Less relevant than it thinks it is in endgame.

A

Sixth Coyote

Chest

Double dodge charge. Not flashy. Effective. Excellent PvP. Enables Crackshot twice per engagement.

A

Caliban's Hand

Gauntlets

Scorch from melee feeds melee energy; ignition kills refund Proximity Knife. Solar loop machine.

A

FR0ST-EE5

Legs

Sprinting grants Frost Armor; Stasis weapons deal bonus damage with it active. Stasis builds only.

B

St0mp-EE5

Legs

Better jumps, less damage airborne, more slide. Good PvP. Won't carry PvE on its own.

Build 1: Void Nightstalker (PvE / GM)

The Destiny 2 Nightstalker build remains the most reliable Hunter setup in endgame PvE. Gyrfalcon's Hauberk is the centerpiece. The loop: dodge to go invisible, exit invisibility to gain Volatile Rounds, kill a Volatile enemy to proc Stylish Executioner, go invisible again, repeat until the encounter ends or your teammates die of boredom watching you.

Armor Mods

  • Helmet: Void Siphon, Heavy Ammo Finder, Super Font
  • Arms: Grenade Font, Harmonic Reloader, Bolstering Detonation
  • Chest: Concussive Dampener + Resistance mods (match enemy damage type)
  • Legs: x2 Weapon Font, Void Surge
  • Class Item: Reaper, Bomber, Powerful Attraction

In raids, many optimal teams run Tractor Cannon and prefer a higher-damage Super like Golden Gun over Tether. Know your role before locking Nightstalker in a coordinated fireteam. Your teammates will tell you: repeatedly.

Build 2: Solar Gunslinger (PvE / PvP)

Crackshot is the new Aspect Gunslingers needed. Activate your class ability to mark three targets and fire scorching shots at each. Land all three and cure yourself. Pair with Caliban's Hand for a scorch-ignition melee loop, or with Wormhusk Crown if you want to survive long enough to press the button a second time. The Destiny 2 Solar Hunter build is no longer just a DPS check: it's a sustained pressure machine in the Monument of Triumph sandbox.

Solar Gunslinger: Crackshot Ignition

Blade Barrage knives now scorch on detonation. The super has quietly graduated from "decent add clear" to "everything in this room is on fire." Crackshot's synergy with Sixth Coyote in PvP means two full marking windows per engagement. Your opponents will not appreciate this.

Armor 3.0: Set Bonuses & SRL Gear

The Armor 3.0 system introduces set bonuses: pairing pieces from the same set unlocks passive perks. Four-piece bonuses dominate specialized endgame builds; two 2-piece combinations win in general content where flexibility matters more. The SRL armor set returned permanently with Monument of Triumph. The community had been requesting it since 2017. Bungie delivered it on the final patch. The set bonuses favor Mobility builds and stack well with Hunters running Crackshot. Appropriate timing, as always.

Only recently available: roll quality varies.

Stat caps changed with this update. The previous single-stat abuse builds that ignored all other stats are gone: 125% is the new max multiplier. Strong loops still function. Min-maxing into one stat at the expense of all others no longer works. Build more like a functional adult.

Stasis Hunter: The FR0ST-EE5 Revival

The Destiny 2 Stasis Hunter build received its best update in years. The new Shatter Shard economy changes how Frost Armor works: Stasis or Kinetic weapon kills shatter enemies while Frost Armor is active, and taking damage now grants class ability energy. With FR0ST-EE5, sprinting generates Frost Armor passively. The loop is: sprint, gain Frost Armor, shoot things, they shatter, you get class ability energy, you dodge, repeat. The Shatter Grenade sticks to enemies and bounces shrapnel: instant shatters on frozen targets. Stasis builds that generate Frost Armor consistently will feel noticeably faster than anything they ran before this patch.

To unlock Stasis: complete the Beyond Light campaign on Europa. It is available to all players at no cost. There is no excuse.

Pantheon 2.0: What Your Build Needs

Pantheon 2.0 is now permanent. It is a raid boss gauntlet with escalating power handicaps: +5 at Atraks scaling to +20 at Nezarec. The Shot Caller modifier rewards precision: landing multiple precision hits boosts damage. Precision builds are not optional in Pantheon. Each activity uses a weekly Surge element: if your build fights the Surge, wait for reset.

  • Void Surge week: Run Nightstalker with Gyrfalcon. No exceptions.
  • Solar Surge week: Crackshot Gunslinger with Caliban's Hand.
  • Stasis Surge week: FR0ST-EE5 Stasis build, Shatter Shard loop.
  • Anti-Champion mods are now Artifact-driven: check your current Artifact before every Pantheon attempt.

The full gauntlet unlocks the first Saturday after June 9. Weekly rotators begin the Tuesday following launch. Bungie structured this so you cannot complete everything on day one: a final reminder that pacing yourself is not actually in the studio's interest.

Best Hunter Builds for Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph FAQ

What is the best Hunter exotic for Monument of Triumph?

Star-Eater Scales for Super uptime in PvE. Gyrfalcon's Hauberk for Void content. Omnioculus for Grandmaster survival. Pick based on activity, not preference.

Is the Void Nightstalker still viable after Monument of Triumph changes?

Yes. Phantom Surge accelerates the Gyrfalcon loop. Invisibility is still strong. Moebius Quiver crossbow buff was cut 50%, so adjust your Super expectations accordingly.

What does the new Crackshot aspect do for Gunslinger Hunter?

Marks three targets on dodge, fires scorching shots at each. Land all three and cure yourself. Pairs with Caliban's Hand or Sixth Coyote depending on content type.

Should I use a 4-piece armor set or mix-and-match for set bonuses?

Four-piece wins in specialized endgame builds. Two 2-piece combinations win in flexible general content. Match your build's actual needs, not your completionist instinct.

Will there be more Hunter build updates after Monument of Triumph?

No. Update 9.7.0 is the final live-service patch. Hotfixes may tweak numbers. No new content is planned. This is the sandbox you keep forever.
