Before Monument of Triumph, exotic transmog destiny 2 was a cruel joke: your Exotic armor was stuck wearing its own dedicated Eververse ornament or nothing at all. Congratulations, you paid 700 Silver to hide one ugly helmet with a slightly less ugly helmet.
Monument of Triumph introduced True Exotic Armor Transmog. You can now apply Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary armor ornaments to your equipped Exotic armor: not just the ornaments made specifically for it. Universal Exotic Ornaments from Renegades still work too. Every rarity tier, all in one slot.
The Fine Print Nobody Reads Exotic armor icons still display the Exotic rarity marker. You cannot change that. Bungie wants everyone to know you are wearing an Exotic. PvP has its own rules: see below.
CRINGEBLOG — your Cringe Promocode to rule the world ;-). Works everywhere!
If you are searching destiny 2 apply ornaments to exotics, the process has not changed dramatically from the standard ornament workflow:
The ornament you apply does not need to be built for that specific Exotic. That is the entire point. A Legendary raid ornament on Frostees? Sure.
Here is the part that will make you close the tab. People searching can you transmog exotics in pvp destiny 2 will find an answer they do not want.
PvP Restriction: Still Active Ornaments not specifically parented to your equipped Exotic are visually disabled in PvP. Your Guardian reverts to the base Exotic look the moment you enter Crucible. The ornament re-enables automatically when you leave.
Bungie's reasoning is competitive readability: opponents need to identify your Exotic from across the map. It is a real concern. It is also a complete betrayal of your carefully constructed Titan fit. The same restriction that applied to Universal Exotic Ornaments in Renegades applies here. Piece-specific Eververse ornaments made for your exact Exotic still display in PvP normally.

The question how to hide exotic armor destiny 2 is really a question about visual replacement. You cannot make the Exotic invisible: you cannot equip a Legendary armor piece for stats and show a different Legendary cosmetically the way standard transmog works. What you can do:
The Exotic rarity icon remains regardless of what ornament you apply. You are hiding the model, not the identity.
Searching for best fashion sets monument of triumph is a reasonable instinct given how many ornaments dropped with this update. Here is what actually matters:
Monument of Triumph added 12 armor ornament sets per class through Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard. You spend Legendary Marks: earned by completing Triumphs: to unlock them. The Tenet of Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice, and Death each carry distinct sets, including Exotic faction ornaments and returning Bright Dust sets now available through direct exchange.
The Monument of Triumph Rewards Pass includes multiple armor ornament sets, Ghosts, and shaders. Earning it costs nothing: the pass is free to all players. The destiny 2 exotic armor fashion pipeline has never had more input material than right now.
Shader Note Superblack and Chatterwhite returned as earnable rewards for the first time in years. If you are building a serious Exotic fashion set, shaders are not optional: they are half the look.
