Black Ops 7 Zombies Super Easter Egg: Full Guide

The Black Ops 7 Zombies super Easter egg does not exist yet, and Rex Infernus will not be the one to deliver it either, so calm down. Treyarch's own zombies design director confirmed a super Easter egg is being looked at for Black Ops 7, and given that Rex Infernus lands mid Season 5 Reloaded with no mention of it in any roadmap, the smart money says the reward drops in Season 6, the season with no new map, where Treyarch has nothing better to do than finally pay off four years of community whining.

Black Ops 7 Season 5 Boosting

Here is the part people keep missing. Kevin Drew called Black Ops 7 "a continuation from six to seven," which is corporate speak for one enormous shared Easter egg spanning both games, since Black Ops 7 is essentially a very expensive expansion pack wearing a new box. If that theory holds, anyone who already ground out the Black Ops 6 quests gets to skip ahead, and everyone else gets to buy a second sixty dollar game to unlock a calling card. Sounds fair. Sounds very fair.

A Short, Slightly Embarrassing History of the Super Easter Egg

The concept did not start with a fancy name. It started on Moon in Black Ops 1, where finishing Call of the Dead and Shangri-La first was a silent prerequisite nobody explained to you. Black Ops 2 made it visible with the Nav Card table in the Vonderful maps, forcing every player in the lobby to have completed all three side quests before a big red button even appeared. Black Ops 3 was the first to hand out a permanent reward for actual effort, and Black Ops Cold War's Pact was refreshingly simple and could be toggled off for anyone who found it too strong.

GameTriggerReward
Black Ops 1Complete Moon after Call of the Dead and Shangri-LaNarrative ending only, no gameplay bonus
Black Ops 2Insert all Nav Cards into the loop on the Victus mapsChoice of ending, reset access to redo the opposite side
Black Ops 3Beat every map's main questXP boost, calling card, Path of Sorrows and Revelations wonder weapon, permanent RK5 pistol
Black Ops Cold WarFind the obelisks on Zoo in OutbreakCalling cards and a togglable starting weapon rarity buff
Infinite WarfareFull completion twice, collect every talisman maskNew game mode, true boss fight, playable secret operator with every perk active

Infinite Warfare Zombies: The Bar Nobody Has Cleared Since

Say what you want about the game around it, but the Infinite Warfare Zombies super Easter egg is still the gold standard, and it is not close. Beat every map's quest and you unlock Director's Cut, an entire new game mode stacked with bonuses. Collect every talisman mask from repeat completions and you get dragged to Mephistopheles, a genuine second final boss. Beat that and you unlock a code to play as Willard Wyler, who spawns with every perk and a pack a punched weapon already in hand. That is three separate escalating rewards for one Easter egg chain, and Treyarch has never matched it since.

Nobody at Treyarch has said the word "relics" in the Season 5 blog notes, which either means the relic hunt is done being teased or it means the studio is saving the real reveal for after launch. Either way, treat any confident leak about the final reward as fan fiction until Treyarch says otherwise.

The Curse Mode Wildcard

Here is where it gets interesting. Cursed mode relics in Black Ops 7 are already the closest thing to a mini super Easter egg system the game has, since each relic demands a hidden side quest plus a brutal Relic Trial before it even unlocks. Kowakujo's relic hunt in particular dragged on so long that Treyarch had to hand out an animated calling card just to keep people from rioting. If a genuine finale exists, the most obvious place to bury it is inside Cursed, tied to collecting every relic across every map and then doing something specific with them, because otherwise why build this elaborate difficulty and reward ladder and just let it fizzle out.

  • Every relic completed across every round based map could gate a special Cursed only encounter nobody has seen yet.
  • The unresolved wrestling belt relic on Totenreich, home to the Shadowsmith Dravakar fight, is the loose thread most likely to matter.
  • A newly announced cursed inducer item hints Treyarch is still actively tinkering with how relics get distributed going forward.

Shadow Smith Blessings Already Do This

People forget the game already runs a soft super Easter egg system through its boss fights. Defeat a map's Shadowsmith and its blessing carries forward into future maps, stacking benefits for players who cleansed earlier ones first. That is the entire concept of a super Easter egg, just spread quietly across five maps instead of saved for one grand finale.

Blessing Source

Effect

Ashes of the Damned Shadowsmith

One minute of infinite reserve ammo for guns and lethals

Totenreich Shadowsmith, Dravakar

Team wide revive on a downed player, a free second chance

Kowakujo Shadowsmith

A meteor companion that adds extra damage every time you shoot

Astra Malorum Shadowsmith

Temporary invulnerability during the toughest boss phases

Beating the Warden at the end of Rex Infernus while carrying all four blessings is basically the endgame test already built into the game's structure, so whatever bonus Treyarch attaches to that final fight is a strong candidate for the actual reward, whether or not they ever slap the label super Easter egg on it.

Realistic Expectations

Do not expect Treyarch to copy Infinite Warfare Zombies outright, since the studio's stated philosophy leans toward rewards that help without breaking the maps, not handing out a fully kitted secret character. Expect calling cards, an XP bump, maybe a weapon rarity boost for full completionists, and if Treyarch is feeling generous, a nod to the Black Ops 3 Path of Sorrows for anyone who cleared both games. Do not expect it before Season 6, and do not expect a straight answer before then either.

Black Ops 7 Zombies Super Easter Egg: Full Guide FAQ

When will the Black Ops 7 Zombies super Easter egg release?

Most likely Season 6, since no map is planned and Rex Infernus's roadmap skips it entirely.

Will Rex Infernus have a super Easter egg?

No confirmation exists, and current blogs suggest it's being saved for later, not this map.

Does the super Easter egg involve Cursed mode relics?

Likely, since relics already form a hidden completion system spanning every round based map.

Will Black Ops 6 progress count toward the reward?

Possibly, as Kevin Drew hinted at treating both games as one continuous story.

What was the best super Easter egg reward ever?

Infinite Warfare Zombies, which unlocked a secret playable character with every perk active.
