Black Ops 7 Season 5 BlackCell is here. Unlock Cipher, Sturmwolf blueprints, secret Dark Ops skins, and six camos before they vanish forever.

Black Ops 7 BlackCell costs a flat thirty real dollars, cannot be bought with COD Points, and the entire Cipher event sits behind that wall. Buy it and you instantly receive Cipher's base operator skin plus the Vindex Mastercraft blueprint for the Sturmwolf 45 SMG, no effort involved, no grind, just a receipt.
There is no free version of this event. Illicit Cargo had one. Escalation Directive had one. This time Treyarch decided your wallet does the unlocking. Worse still, every reward gets vaulted the second Season 5 ends, so whatever you skip now is gone, and Season 6 will sell you a brand new set of shiny distractions instead.
Past the instant unlock, the Cipher Collection track hides three extra operator variants and three extra Sturmwolf blueprints behind BlackCell Season 5 challenges, and mercifully you can knock them out in any mode you want. Multiplayer, Warzone, Endgame, Zombies, mix and match freely, nobody's forcing you into a mode you despise for this part.
This unlocks the Bit operator variant and the Excelium blueprint together, same weapon, same color swap, same inspect animation recycled for the third time. Progress runs on Skull Score, which you accumulate just by killing things, no scavenging required.
| Mode | Skulls per Elimination |
|---|---|
| Multiplayer | 5 |
| Zombies | 1 |
| Endgame | 3 |
| Warzone | 20 |
Warzone is the obvious shortcut since every kill is worth twenty skulls, and dropping thirty or forty kills in a single resurgence match will get you most of the way there without noticing. Endgame and Warzone casuals together will clear this track before you finish a single coffee.
This one is deliberately more balanced across modes, and by balanced I mean equally miserable everywhere.
| Mode | Requirement for 1 Triple Skull |
|---|---|
| Multiplayer | 2,500 score |
| Zombies | 25,000 essence |
| Endgame | 5,000 power |
| Warzone | $25,000 spent at a buy station |
Endgame players can farm power nodes and tier three or four activities without much thought, and in Zombies, Cursed mode with a money-printing weapon will have you swimming in essence before you know it. This track is, without exaggeration, the most tedious stretch of the entire event, so budget your patience accordingly.
There is a hidden Hex operator outfit for Cipher that the menu refuses to preview unless you're level 1,000, which is a strange design choice for a challenge everyone below that level can still complete and unlock anyway. Alongside it you get the Riddlefang knife blueprint variant for the Executioner's Duet melee weapons from last season.
In multiplayer or Warzone, with any weapon, get five kills without taking damage and without using scorestreaks, and they don't need to be consecutive. Hardcore multiplayer is the easiest place to farm this since any damage instantly disqualifies the streak and you'll actually know when you've messed up. The Dark Ops challenge gets substantially crueler in Zombies, where you must complete an entire main quest with the Focusing Stone, Rocket, Blood Vials, and Vril Sphere relics active simultaneously, assuming you even have those unlocked in the first place.
Important: hidden power kills in Zombies do not currently count toward the submachine gun elimination camo challenge, even after multiple weapon tests. Treat that entire SMG camo track as broken until Treyarch patches it, and grind it in a different mode instead.
Every camo in the BlackCell camo track is animated, and every one demands a specific weapon class, so no cheesing your favorite gun across the board this time.
Camo | Weapon Class | Fastest Route |
|---|---|---|
Tessellation | Assault Rifles | 500 point-blank AR kills with Juggernog active in Zombies |
Ornate | Submachine Guns | Five SMG kills per match, five times, in Warzone casuals |
Aurelian | LMGs | Three kills without reloading, ten times, in multiplayer |
Scarlet | Shotguns | Three double kills with shotguns in Warzone, RNG permitting |
Polyatomic Remake | Melee Weapons | Five kills right after a weapon swap, in Warzone casuals |
Every camo challenge locks you into one single mode per weapon class, unlike the operator and blueprint tracks above, so pick the mode you can stomach before you start grinding, because switching later means starting over.
The Primacy Ultra camo only opens up once you've finished all five weapon class camos above, and then it demands one more round with any weapon from any class. Three headshots in a single life, twice, in multiplayer. Three hundred headshots in one match, three times, in Zombies. Five headshots per match, three times, in Warzone. Two hundred kills per match, three times, in Endgame.
Stack the Endgame requirement into one absurd six-hundred-kill match if you enjoy suffering efficiently, or just camp a small multiplayer map and farm headshots the same way you did for your military calling cards. Either path gets you there, neither path is fun.
Separate from BlackCell entirely, pre-ordering Modern Warfare 4 grants the Moonlit Pearl camo instantly and opens a challenge for the Gilded Ruin camo, using its own 5,000 Skull requirement with different per-mode values than the Cipher track above. Multiplayer awards ten skulls per kill, Endgame five, Zombies one, and Warzone thirty. The first hundred thousand players to finish get a serialized version numbered by completion order, and everyone after that still gets the camo, just without bragging rights.
Thirty dollars buys you an instant skin and a decent SMG blueprint, and everything past that is a deliberately drawn-out grind designed to keep you logged in until Season 5 dies and takes your unfinished progress with it. If you enjoy padded checklists disguised as content, this event delivers exactly what it promises, nothing more, nothing less.
