Arc Raiders: Digging Up Dirt Quest Guide & Walkthrough
Sick of empty drawers? Our Arc Raiders Geiger Counter guide maps every Stella Montis Exodus hotspot so you stop wasting entire raids for nothing.

You've decided to chase one of the most obnoxiously rare items in the game. The Arc Raiders Geiger Counter is an Epic-rarity Exodus item, exclusive to Stella Montis, and it exists purely to test whether you can open forty drawers without crying. It sells for 3,500 coins, recycles into three Batteries and one Exodus Module, and is required for the Trophy Display project. None of that makes it spawn faster. Nothing does. Welcome to the grind.
If you want to survive the machine threat and bring back the best salvage, you obviously must read the following:
(Lock and load, keep your eyes on the sky, and don't let the ARC catch you slippin'!)
It's a radiation-sniffing prop from the old world, and the game treats it like buried treasure. It weighs 1.5 kg, stacks up to three per slot, and its only real function is making you question your life choices every time a drawer turns up empty. If you're farming arc raiders geiger counter spots specifically for coin, know now that faster money exists elsewhere. You're here for the Trophy Display, and you know it.

There is no marked spawn point. There never is, because that would be merciful. What exists is a set of Exodus-tagged zones with better odds than the rest of the map, so treat this geiger counter location list as a route, not a guarantee.

Zone |
Why Bother |
What To Loot |
|
Assembly & Assembly Workshops |
Marked Exodus zone, dense containers, north Stella Montis |
White medical pull-out shelves, blue server room drawers, grey drawer units |
|
Business Center |
Marked Exodus zone, highest container density on the map |
Industrial trolleys with loose loot on top, not the blue suitcases |
|
Medical Research |
Not officially Exodus-tagged, but drenched in compatible containers |
White filing cabinets, medical desk bins, trolleys with display screens |
This is where assembly workshops arc raiders farmers spend most of their raid timer, and for good reason. It's a formally marked Exodus zone, which means the loot tables are actually stacked in your favor, a rare kindness from this game. Ignore the yellow industrial carts entirely; they're a trap for the impatient. Go for the white medical pull-out racks and the blue-doored drawers tucked inside the small server rooms lining the perimeter. That's the gold standard. Everything else is filler.
The business center arc raiders zone is the other officially flagged Exodus area, and it rewards volume over precision. There are more containers here than anywhere else on the map, so more attempts, more RNG rolls, more chances to walk away with nothing. Skip the blue suitcases and trash bins scattered everywhere; they're statistically a waste of your patience. Instead, scan the corridors for rolling industrial trolleys with loot sitting exposed on top. Those trolleys are famous for Magnets, but they also drop Exodus Modules and, occasionally, the item you're actually here for.
Not officially tagged as Exodus, and yet somehow one of the most consistent sources anyway, because the loot gods enjoy irony. The arc raiders medical research area is stuffed with white filing cabinets, medical desk bins, and trolleys with little display screens, and any of them can quietly hand you the item while you're not paying attention. Check every corner. The drawer that looks the most boring is, statistically, the one that matters.
Also worth a glance: the Spaceport map's Rocket Assembly zone runs on similar Exodus loot logic. Not your primary target, but useful if Stella Montis has personally wronged you today.
Not all storage furniture is created equal. Some containers are basically decoration; others are doing real work. Use this instead of opening everything like an animal.
There's no trick that beats RNG, but there are ways to stop wasting effort. Treat this as geiger counter farming in the same way you'd treat fishing: repetitive, occasionally rewarding, mostly just cold and damp.
Nobody farms this item for fun. You're doing it because Stage 5 of the arc raiders trophy display project, Imposing Behemoths, demands three of them, and the game knows exactly how much that will hurt. Hand them over and you're rewarded with the aphelion legendary rifle, normally locked behind a Matriarch kill. It's a genuinely strong reward. It is also proof that Embark understands suffering as a design philosophy.
Once recycled, each Geiger Counter breaks down into Batteries and one exodus module, both of which feed directly into mid-to-late-game crafting. So even the ones that don't go toward the Trophy Display aren't wasted, they're just delayed gratification with extra steps.
Reminder: Geiger Counters can be traded away or lost in a bad extraction fight just like anything else. If you're not turning it in immediately, keep it in your Safe Pocket. Losing one after all that container-opening is its own special kind of grief.

Only on Stella Montis, inside Exodus-tagged zones like Assembly Workshops, Business Center, and Medical Research containers.
Three, for the final stage, Imposing Behemoths, which then rewards the Aphelion legendary rifle.
No. It's RNG loot inside high-tier containers, so expect several runs before one drops.
Three Batteries and one Exodus Module, both useful for mid to late-game crafting upgrades.
Slightly. Epic-tier tech items, including this one, get a small drop-rate bump during Night Raids.
