Apex Legends Hemlok Guide
Axle slides in and breaks everything, Alter loses her escape room pass, and Respawn added Deathbox Respawns so...
Respawn has done it again. They stared at the most functional meta in recent memory, said "not fast enough," and introduced Axle: a slide-based skirmisher whose entire kit is built around moving faster than your enemies can track and caring very little about your feelings. Season 29, titled Overclocked, is the first new legend drop in roughly twelve months, and she arrived on time to demolish everything you had just gotten comfortable with.
Meanwhile, Alter is facing real nerfs to her Ultimate range and recall safety for the first time. Respawn noticed she was oppressive. Congratulations to everyone who has been screaming about Alter portals for two seasons running: your feedback has been heard and processed into a tooltip adjustment.
This is the Apex Legends Season 29 tier list. It is blunt. It is accurate. Your main is probably B tier or worse and you should consider therapy.
Before you argue about placements, here is a summary of the mechanical reality Season 29 dropped on the meta for Apex Legends progress help.

Change |
What It Means |
Who Benefits |
|
Deathbox Respawns |
Revive teammates directly at their deathbox. 7-second cast, increasing cooldown per death. |
Aggressive teams, Support legends |
|
Chain Healing |
New healing chaining mechanic speeds up combat sustain |
Lifeline, Conduit |
|
Tridents removed |
Vehicle rotations gone. Legend mobility now carries everything. |
High-mobility Skirmishers |
|
Alter nerfs |
Ultimate range and recall safety reduced. Risk is back. |
Everyone who died to Alter portals |
|
Conduit base kit update |
Two tactical charges by default. Regen rate lowered (20/s to 15/s). |
Duo-support squads |
|
Vantage rework |
Improved Ultimate responsiveness, new zoom options, hard-landing prevention from Tactical. |
Long-range compositions |
With Tridents removed from the rotation, legend movement abilities are now the primary macro-rotation tool. If your legend cannot reposition independently, good luck getting anywhere before the ring eats you. The meta has officially rewarded people who have been bunny-hopping through ranked lobbies for years and punished everyone who called it "sweaty."

The newest resident of the Apex Games is a hypermobile skirmisher built entirely around sliding momentum and lateral control. She is going to be everywhere for the first two weeks of the season and you will hate her.
Her Level 3 upgrade, Sliding Shooter, allows firing up to half a magazine directly from inventory while sliding. This bypasses the reload animation during a push. It is not subtle. In professional play, expect her Apex Legends meta Season 29 pick rate to be absurd until Respawn decides to "proceed cautiously" with a nerf six weeks from now to Apex Legends badges help.
Ranked on competitive viability. No curve, no participation trophies. Class labels included because some of you still pick two Recons and wonder why you lost zone.

Tier |
Legend |
Verdict |
|
S |
Axle New Skirmisher |
New legend launch advantage plus a kit that is legitimately broken at release. Sliding Shooter upgrade makes her a menace in close-range fights. Play her now before the inevitable nerf. |
|
S |
Bloodhound Recon |
Scan duration buff from Season 28 still active. Four-second scans chain through entire fights. In a movement-heavy meta, knowing where everyone is at all times remains unfair. Still the most valuable Recon pick. |
|
S |
Lifeline Support |
Deathbox Respawns make her more powerful, not less. Chain Healing synergizes directly with her kit. She has been oppressively good since her rework and Season 29 adds no reason to drop her. |
|
S |
Octane Skirmisher |
16.9% pick rate entering this season. The movement meta he thrives in just got faster. He will remain S tier until Respawn does something drastic, which they will not. |
|
A |
Alter Nerfed Skirmisher |
Nexus Ultimate range reduced. Recall safety gutted. She is still very good. She was just previously unfair, so enjoy the humbling. |
|
A |
Wraith Skirmisher |
Portal utility is still meaningful in this meta. Her passive remains underrated. Not as dominant as Axle but she does not break lobbies the way new releases do. |
|
A |
Newcastle Support |
Ready to Rumble perk triggers full health regeneration after revives. Deathbox Respawns give him another vector for keeping squads alive. Best defensive support this season. |
|
A |
Bangalore Assault |
Durable in literally any meta. Smoke is always useful. She has absorbed nerfs for years and remains playable in all skill brackets. The cockroach of Apex legends, affectionately. |
|
A |
Fuse Assault |
Full rework from Season 28 holds up. Motherlode pierces 13m deep. Aggressive explosive playstyle fits the speed of Season 29 well. |
|
A |
Vantage Buffed Recon |
Rework finally makes her feel like a complete Legend rather than a frustrating experiment. Herd Tracker upgrade reveals an entire squad from a single ping. Long-range compositions finally have a real option. |
|
B |
Horizon Skirmisher |
Vertical mobility is less relevant when the entire meta rotates laterally at ground level. Still excellent at creating angles, just not as dominant. |
|
B |
Conduit Buffed Support |
Two tactical charges baseline is a real improvement. Lower healing throughput means you cannot absorb a sustained fight the way you once could. Better flex support, weaker primary. |
|
B |
Catalyst Controller |
Dark Veil and horizontal deployment still shut down entries. Slower meta pockets favor her. She falls behind when the entire lobby decides to ignore cover and run straight at you. |
|
B |
Revenant Assault |
Still punishing in duels. Aggression-rewarding kit suits the meta philosophy. Needs a coordinated team to maximize; solo queue players will average out his potential. |
|
B |
Ash Minor Buff Assault |
Passive tracking velocity increased to 450, cooldown reduced to 10 seconds. Quality of life, not a power spike. She is functional but Axle, Wraith, and Octane are all doing what she wants to do with better tools. |
|
B |
Valkyrie Skirmisher |
Vertical mobility remains unique. Fuel nerfs hurt long engagements. Axle now competes directly in the rotation role Valk used to own. Still viable; just no longer irreplaceable. |
|
C |
Pathfinder Skirmisher |
Grapple is a rotation tool. In Season 29, everyone has rotation tools. Exit point utility is real but never enough on its own. He needs buffs, not encouragement. |
|
C |
Seer Recon |
0.7% pick rate and proud. Still functional with disciplined timing. Bloodhound does the scan loop faster, costs less coordination, and your teammates already know how to play around him. |
|
C |
Wattson Controller |
High skill ceiling, extremely narrow meta window. In a season defined by lateral slides and Nitro Gates, standing still and placing fences is not a competitive identity. |
|
C |
Crypto Recon |
Off the Grid integrated into base kit helped him. He is still asking your squad to play around a drone while everyone else is sliding at 40km/h. Coordination requirement remains punishing in ranked. |
|
C |
Loba Support |
Ammo and utility support is meaningful. Her movement options are among the worst in a Skirmisher-dominated meta. Black Market is still her only compelling reason to exist outside supply shortage scenarios. |
|
C |
Mirage Assault |
Decoys work exactly as well as your opponents allow them to. At lower ranks, genuinely effective. At higher ranks, invisible information tells the whole story. Fun to play. Not a meta pick. |
|
D |
Gibraltar Support |
Large hitbox. Slow. In a meta where everyone slides, you walk. The dome is still a dome. He is not bad in ALGS final circles. He is bad in literally every other situation Season 29 creates. |
|
D |
Caustic Controller |
Strong in tight buildings. Season 29 removes vehicles and pushes rotations onto open ground. Gas traps in the open are decorative. He requires the enemy to cooperate with his entire gameplan. |
|
D |
Ballistic Assault |
Abilities are only effective when upgraded. His weapon-overheating threat is real but his kit lacks the baseline utility to justify a slot when Bangalore and Fuse exist. |

With Tridents gone and Deathbox Respawn mechanic now live, team compositions are shifting toward a simple formula: one Skirmisher to rotate, one Recon to scan, one Support to rebuild. The meta does not reward complexity right now.
In ALGS competitive Apex Season 29, Axle's lateral control makes her a premier rotating pick through open terrain where Valkyrie and Octane previously owned the sightline fight. Expect her to appear in over half of pro compositions within the first split.
Vantage's rework makes her the strongest dedicated long-range Recon in the game for the first time in her history. Her Herd Tracker upgrade that reveals an entire squad from one ping creates information advantages that professional teams will exploit immediately. She should finally stop being a punchline.
If you are solo queuing into randoms, pick Bloodhound. Your teammates will ignore your pings, die in the open, and blame ring. At least you will have scanned the team that third-partied you, providing the information no one acted on. The best legends for ranked Apex 2026 are the ones that function even when your squad is playing a different game entirely.
Alter's Nexus Ultimate range and recall safety have both been reduced. Teams using her portal to escape bad fights will now frequently be chased down before the recall completes. Alter nerfs Season 29 do not eliminate her from the meta: she is still A tier: but they introduce actual risk to a kit that previously offered consequence-free repositioning. About time.
Two tactical charges in base kit sounds like a pure buff until you do the math. Regen rate dropped from 20/s to 15/s and duration from 9s to 6s. You can now support two teammates simultaneously but you cannot carry a squad through sustained aggression the way Season 28 Conduit could. Whether this is a buff or a nerf depends entirely on your playstyle and the honesty with which you assess it.
Tridents removed. Broken Moon Ziprails reduced to limit silent third parties. If you built your entire ranked strategy around vehicle rotations and zipline ambushes, Season 29 has arrived specifically to dismantle it. Apex Legends Overclocked map changes are Respawn's clearest statement yet that legend ability-based rotations are the future of the game.

Both, and the distinction stops mattering by week two. Expect a mid-season patch targeting Sliding Shooter specifically.
If your main is D tier, yes. If your main is B tier, stop looking for permission and just play better.
No. They supplement beacons with a 7-second on-site cast, gated by a per-elimination cooldown that increases with deaths.
Yes. Reworked Ultimate, improved tactical, Herd Tracker upgrade. Season 29 is genuinely her best state since launch.
Because information is always the most valuable resource and four-second scans chained through fights remain obscenely powerful.
