ESO Update 50 Tier List: Class Mastery Meta Ranked
Updated ESO gold & CP farm guide for 2026. Tier table, best grind spots, material values, XP stack math. Up to 2M gold/hr if you do it right. Read it.
ESO gold farming is not complicated: it just punishes people who play without a plan. The difference between someone making 200k per hour and someone drowning at 20k is almost entirely method and setup. The game does not reward effort; it rewards optimization. That is the first uncomfortable truth in this guide, and not the last.
The ESO economy runs on crafting materials, upgrade components, and consumables. If you are killing overworld enemies for loose coin drops and calling that a strategy, you have made a choice: just not a good one. Every method below is ranked, explained, and stripped of the kind of filler that bloats most guides to justify their existence.
Server matters. Prices vary enormously between PC EU, PC NA, and console. A material worth 24,000g on EU may be worthless on your platform. Check Tamriel Trade Centre or Master Merchant before committing to any farming route.
Everything worth doing, ranked without sentiment.

Daily crafting writs are the single most reliable gold source in the game: and the one most players set up once and then forget to maximize. Running writs on a single character is fine. Running them on eight characters in Vivec City, on the other hand, produces a consistent daily income that requires no skill, no gear, and no willingness to interact with other human beings.
A max-level character pulls 5,075 gold in raw currency per writ set with ESO Plus active (4,648 without). Scale that across crafting professions and multiple alts and it adds up to something that funds your actual gameplay. The real prizes are Survey Maps and Master Writs: sell the writs, do the surveys, and use the extracted gold materials or sell those too.
Gathering nodes gives between 100k and 500k gold per hour depending on your build, zone, and willingness to stop chatting in zone. The single biggest variable is movement speed: faster character equals more nodes hit per loop, and more nodes means more sellable material. This is math, not opinion.
The Speedy G farming build is the standard recommendation: permanent Major Expedition, stealth access, and enough sustain to never stop moving. You run through enemies, not through them. Craglorn remains the top-tier open-world zone because of Nirncrux trait stones, which can be worth significant gold on their own. Blackreach (Arkthzand Cavern) is a secondary option for Crimson Nirnroot and runestones.
For maximizing raw node output, slot these Champion Point stars or accept your limitations gracefully:
PC users: Install HarvestMap. It shows every node you have previously gathered on a live map overlay. Running a route without it is like navigating with a candle in a hurricane.

Not everything you can farm is worth farming. These are the ones that pay rent.

Guild trader market flipping is the highest gold-per-hour activity in ESO, and it requires no dungeon runs, no farming routes, and no getting ganked in Cyrodiil. It requires capital, patience, and addons. If you have all three, you can generate 2 million gold per hour at peak efficiency. If you have none of them, start with writs and come back.
The method: use Tamriel Trade Centre or Master Merchant to find listings priced significantly below market value, buy them, relist at actual market price. The gap between the two numbers is your profit, minus the guild store cut. It sounds simple because it is: the barrier is knowledge of what items are actually worth, which takes time to develop.
Champion Points are account-wide, capped at 3,600, and the threshold where they stop transforming your character from liability to asset is around 1,600 CP. Everything after that is optimization for people who have replaced sleeping with grinding.
CP farming is XP farming with a different label. The same spots, the same setup, the same daily enlightenment bonus (which you should exhaust every single day before doing anything else: it gives triple XP on your next 400,000 points). Wasting the enlightenment window is the free-to-play version of throwing money in a fire.
The theoretical maximum XP bonus stack is 358%. You will not hit that. Aim for this instead:
CP allocation priority: Warfare tree first: Fighting Finesse, Deadly Aim, Master-at-Arms for DPS. Then Craft tree stars like Steed's Blessing and Rationer for quality of life. Fitness last unless your build actively needs survivability to grind.
Console players: this section is not for you. You have made your choices. PC players have exactly zero excuses for farming blind.

Daily crafting writs on multiple alts. Zero skill required, guaranteed daily income, scales with character count.
Around 1,600 CP covers every meaningful passive. The remaining 2,000 are for the obsessed.
No. It improves refining rates and writ payouts but none of the core methods collapse without it.
Spellscar in Craglorn for open-world grind; Normal Blackrose Prison Arena 1 Round 2 for instanced solo XP.
Unlikely without market access. Active harvesting peaks around 300k–500k solo on a good server.
