Palworld Wooden Board Guide 1.0: How to Get & Farm
New guide: High Quality Pal Oil in Palworld 1.0: farming routes, ranch method, merchant location, and what it actually crafts.
High quality pal oil palworld farming is the toll booth on the road to guns, Polymer, and anything worth crafting past the campfire era. Nobody warns you. They just let you find out.
It's oil. From Pals. High-quality, apparently, though nobody's tasted it to confirm. It's an Uncommon material, it's light to carry, and it sells for a pathetic 30 gold, which tells you everything about how the game values your suffering versus how much it demands of it.

There is no shortcut hiding in a menu somewhere. How to get high quality pal oil boils down to three miserable options: kill things, wait for things, or pay things. Pick your poison.

If you're going to high quality pal oil farm your way to a stockpile, at least farm efficiently instead of flailing at random wildlife like it owes you money.

Best pals for high quality pal oil farming ultimately comes down to your patience threshold. Woolipop if you're soft. Mammorest Cryst if you enjoy pain and have the gear to back up the ambition.
Assign a Dumud to a Ranch at your base and walk away. It produces oil passively while you go do literally anything else. This is the only farming method in this guide that respects your time. Set up a high quality pal oil ranch, forget about it, come back to a pile of oil sitting in storage like it grew there on its own.
Wandering Merchants sell it for 300 gold a pop. Not cheap, but cheaper than your sanity. The high quality pal oil merchant location most players rely on is the Wandering Merchant in Duneshelter, Dessicated Desert: bright red outfit, impossible to miss, happy to take every coin you own.
You're not hoarding this for fun. It feeds directly into high quality pal oil polymer production, and Polymer is the gatekeeper material for every gun worth firing past the early game.

Palworld 1.0 high quality pal oil farming hasn't been reinvented, but the surroundings have. The level cap jumped to 80, and high-difficulty content: raid bosses, Tower Boss Hard Mode, oil rigs: got rebalanced around it, so don't expect your old farming route to feel identical. Visiting merchants are also far more varied now, with up to 18 specialized merchant types appearing depending on your base level, meaning more chances to stumble into someone selling exactly what you need. Note the new "High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor" is for crude oil, not this material: don't get excited over the wrong liquid.
No Pal in the game is more thoroughly exploited for this material than Dumud. High quality pal oil Dumud farming works whether you're hunting it in the desert or exploiting it on a Ranch for passive income. It's not glamorous. It doesn't need to be. It just works, unlike most of your other plans.
There's no elegant conclusion here. The high quality pal oil uses are non-negotiable if you want late-game weapons, and the farming is unglamorous no matter which method you pick. Catch a Dumud, build a Ranch, or hand over your gold to a merchant in a desert nobody wants to visit. The game doesn't care which. It only cares that you keep coming back for more.

Wandering Merchant in Duneshelter, Dessicated Desert, sells it for 300 gold each — bring plenty of coin.
Dumud. Assign it to a Ranch and it passively produces oil while you do anything else.
Mainly Polymer, which gates crafting for late-game guns like Legendary Handguns and Grizzbolt's Minigun.
Not directly, but level cap 80 rebalanced oil rigs and added far more varied Wandering Merchant types.
