After years of teasers, cryptic dialogue and one very suspicious train, genshin impact 7.0 finally drags the Traveler into Snezhnaya, the Cryo Archon's home turf and the last of the seven nations. This is the update the fandom has been theorizing about since launch, so expect a heavier story load than usual, a new elemental gimmick, and a wallet that will not survive the month.
Release Date and Basics
The genshin impact 7.0 release date is confirmed for August 12, 2026 on Europe, Asia, and TW/HK/MO servers, with North America getting it a day earlier on August 11 because of time zone math. HoYoverse locked this in during the "To Snezhnaya and the Future" special program back in April 2026, so unlike most patch dates, this one is not a leak. The update follows directly after version 6.7, and HoYoverse is apparently skipping 6.8 entirely to jump straight into the new nation.

Welcome to Snezhnaya
Snezhnaya is the homeland of the Fatui and the Tsaritsa, and snezhnaya genshin impact content has been dangled in front of players since the very first archon quest. The region is frozen, politically unstable, and apparently reachable by train, which is a very normal way to enter a magical fantasy nation. The trailer also confirms political conflict brewing under the ice, so do not expect a cozy vacation. This is the update where the Fatui finally get to be more than mysterious men in coats.
New Characters
Version 7.0 brings a fresh wave of playable faces, and the genshin impact 7.0 characters list is already the most discussed topic in the community. Leaks point to Odette and Alyosha as the headline additions, alongside the long awaited Cryo Traveler, finally completing the protagonist's elemental collection after seven regions of jealousy.
