Destiny Rising Season 4 Tier List
Season 5 of Destiny Rising is on the horizon. NetEase is expected to keep the momentum: new Lightbearers, content drops, and the grind machine continu
Destiny Rising is a free-to-play mobile looter shooter developed by NetEase and licensed by Bungie. It launched August 28, 2025 on iOS and Android, set in an alternate timeline of the Destiny universe: before the Last City, before your nostalgia, before any of this mattered. You play as a Lightbearer. You shoot things. You collect things. You upgrade things. Familiar?
The game peaked at around 100,000 players at launch, then watched 80% of them walk out the door by November 2025. NetEase responded with a six-month roadmap, systemic overhauls, and enough goodwill gestures to fill a gacha banner. Season 4: "Season of Wishes": launched March 26, 2026, and was essentially a controlled relaunch: killed off the hated Pinnacle Energy system, ditched the pure gacha model for characters, added a new explorable zone called Red Sea Rift.
Season 5 hasn't been officially announced as of May 2026. Based on the established cadence: roughly one major season every 10–12 weeks: it's expected to follow Season 4's conclusion in mid-to-late June 2026. What it contains is anyone's guess, though the pattern suggests new Lightbearers, new weapons, more story, and at least one mechanic nobody asked for.
A quick timeline so you know what you're walking into: or what you missed while you were doing literally anything else.

NetEase has not announced a Destiny Rising Season 5 release date. Based on the cadence of previous seasons: roughly 10 to 12 weeks per cycle: Season 5 should land somewhere in June 2026. Season 4 launched March 26 and its Part I wrapped in early May, with Part II extending further. Expect a proper announcement about 2–3 weeks before launch, because apparently suspense is still a feature.
Expected Window Mid-to-late June 2026. Watch the official site at playdestinyrising.com and their social channels. NetEase now releases monthly content calendars, so you won't be blindsided: unless you are.
Season 4's overhaul set a new baseline. The Fragment System replaced gacha pulls for characters: collect 40 Fragments via gameplay, assemble your Lightbearer. No wallet required, theoretically. Season 5 will likely continue this model, which means more characters available through grind rather than luck. Whether that's an improvement depends on your relationship with time.
The Red Sea Rift open-world zone opened in Season 4 with public events, story dungeons, and a Paragon Board for endgame progression. Season 5 will almost certainly expand this: new story chapters, new activities, and the second wave of whatever weapon set NetEase has been cooking. The Great Hunt raid (Gauntlet Onslaught) was added mid-Season 4. Season 5 will add more.
Reality Check Season 5 details are unconfirmed. This is based on established patterns. NetEase could announce something completely different, delay it, or surprise everyone. Manage expectations accordingly.

The game launched with 13 playable Lightbearers: some free, some paid. Season 4 introduced the Fragment system, making new characters earnable through gameplay milestones. Every season since launch has added at least one new Mythic character. Season 1 gave us Estela and Umeko. Season 3 dropped Kabr the Resolute. Season 4 brought in Ikora the Hidden and the Wandering Knight. Season 5 will follow suit.
Leaked characters: take this with the appropriate grain of salt: reportedly include a Hunter Gunslinger that Destiny 2 veterans might recognize. Whether NetEase delivers on that or pivots is entirely on them.

The looter shooter loop is the spine of this game, which means every season drops new weapons and you'll spend the next six weeks optimizing the wrong build. Season 3 introduced Black Armory weapons: Threat Level (Shotgun), Tatara Gaze (Sniper Rifle), Stryker's Sure-Hand (Sword), and Bellowing Giant (Rocket Launcher). Season 4 continued the exotic and mythic weapon pipeline.
Expect Season 5 to add another batch of weapon types, including guaranteed drops from new raid stages. Season 4 established 100% drop rates on specific weapons from limited-time direct access stages: a mercy mechanic that may continue. The Expanse activity in Season 4 introduced weapon-type-specific modes. Season 5 will likely expand that.

Every season comes with a Battle Pass running roughly 6–8 weeks. The free tier gives enough to stay functional; the paid tier gives you the cosmetics you'll want and the exotic weapons you'll probably need. Season 4's pass ran from March 26 to approximately June 18, 2026. Season 5's pass will follow immediately after.
The Pinnacle Energy removal in Season 4 was the most consequential quality-of-life change since launch. Previously it capped how many high-tier activities you could run per day: essentially a stamina gate dressed up in lore language. It's gone. Season 5 will not bring it back. Probably.

You have time. Use it. Complete your Season 4 objectives before the season ends: finishing all core seasonal goals rewards 40 Fragments, enough to assemble one character of your choice. That's the most valuable currency you can carry into Season 5. The Paragon Board progression doesn't reset between seasons, so grinding it now is not wasted.

Not officially confirmed. Based on the seasonal cadence, expect mid-to-late June 2026.
The game is free. Season 5 will have a paid Battle Pass. New characters earnable via Fragments at no cost.
NetEase removed it in Season 4 after heavy criticism. No signals it returns. Assume it's dead.
iOS, Android, and Windows/macOS via NetEase's MuMuPlayer emulator. Full cross-play supported.
