Marvel Rivals Thor Blood Hunt Build Guide
Season 8 of Marvel Rivals is live. Devil Dinosaur leads the frontline, Cyclops comes mid-season, Alchemax HQ opens May 28. Mantis and Invisible Woman

The Gilded Saint cleaned up the Time Plague in Lower Manhattan. Congratulations, everyone. Unfortunately, Alchemax HQ didn't get the memo because it was sitting comfortably behind a wall of crimson Chronovium: a material apparently powered by a dimension of pure kinetic force. Exactly the kind of thing a corporation would hoard. Marvel Rivals Season 8 kicks off May 15, 2026, and the story premise is as follows: Moon Girl got kidnapped, Cyclops got kidnapped, and a very large red dinosaur is furious about both of these things.
The season is titled Sins of Alchemax, which sounds like a corporate ethics report filed three decades too late.
Launch date: May 15, 2026, 9:00 AM UTC. Cyclops joins in Season 8.5, roughly June 2026. If you are a Cyclops main waiting since Season 1, the waiting room is still open.
NetEase confirmed it: Devil Dinosaur Vanguard is real, and he is the 50th hero on the roster. He is enormous. His hitbox is enormous. His damage output is apparently also enormous, which should make every Strategist in the game reconsider their positioning immediately.
Abilities Overview
Moon Girl is not a playable character. She was kidnapped by Alchemax, which is also the in-universe excuse for why a genius child is not firing lasers on the frontline. She may appear in Devil Dinosaur's kit as a support voice or gadget mechanic.
The Devil Dinosaur Punisher team-up is called Primal Cavalry and it does exactly what it sounds like. The Punisher mounts Devil Dinosaur. He can use normal attacks and his short grenade while riding. All other abilities are disabled: apparently Frank Castle is not capable of multitasking on a prehistoric beast. In exchange, the Punisher gains damage reduction, and a percentage of all damage taken and healing received is shared with Devil Dinosaur. The dinosaur gets a passenger. The passenger gets survivability. The enemy team gets a very specific nightmare.
The Alchemax HQ map is a Doom Match mode exclusive and arrives after the May 28 update: not at season launch. The objective is storming the gates to rescue Cyclops and Moon Girl, which is a fine narrative reason to shoot people inside a corporate headquarters. If you were hoping for a tactical, methodical experience, Doom Match is not that, and you know it.
Cyclops Marvel Rivals has been the most-requested addition to the roster since approximately the beginning of time, or at least since Season 1. He is confirmed as a Duelist. His optic blasts will finally arrive in Season 8.5, approximately June 2026. He was kidnapped by Alchemax in the trailer: a fitting metaphor for a character who has been held captive inside "not released yet" for the entirety of the game's existence.
Based on comic lore and everything we know, expect precision ranged damage with beam-based abilities. Whether he gets a visor-focused mechanic or a full optic blast ultimate is still unconfirmed. You can continue speculating, as a treat.
NetEase described the incoming balance pass as preparation for the "evolving combat environment" that Devil Dinosaur will create. Translation: the frontline is about to get significantly more violent, and several heroes were adjusted accordingly. Here is the summary.

The Strategist nerf philosophy for Season 8 is worth naming plainly: Marvel Rivals balance changes are targeting the baseline support floor, not the ceiling. Triple-Strategist lineups have apparently made the margin for error too forgiving. NetEase is tightening the leash. Whether this actually reduces the prevalence of over-stacked support compositions is a question that the ranked ladder will answer with its usual brutality.

New accessories are confirmed for Devil Dinosaur, She-Hulk, Black Widow, Angela, Hela, Namor, and the Punisher, releasing alongside the Season 8 update. A new Marvel Rivals Battle Pass Season 8 is live from day one with the standard spread of costumes, MVPs, and currency. Nothing here is free. This has always been true.
Additionally, verified college students can unlock a set of 10 exclusive costumes and MVPs by verifying a university email. If you are using your university email for anything other than ignoring campus announcements, this is arguably a better use of it.
The Marvel Rivals PC update separates the high-resolution texture pack into a standalone DLC. It still downloads by default, but you can now uninstall it independently, freeing approximately 35 GB of storage. If you play at 1080p or 1440p, or if your texture quality is set to low, you will not notice the difference. If you are running low on disk space, this is the one quality-of-life change in this patch that asks nothing of you emotionally.
