Battlestate finally admitted the word "wipe" was bad for retention, so Escape from Tarkov stopped doing them. Since the 1.0 launch on November 15, 2025, your PMC, your stash, and your hoarding disorder are permanent. In their place: seasons. The first one is called Kord Breach, and it ships with tarkov patch 1.1.0 this July, tangled up with the Black Division storyline nobody asked to be teased for eight months.
Kord Breach is escape from tarkov season 1, a Path of Exile-shaped league bolted onto an extraction shooter. You get a separate, opt-in seasonal character. It runs a minimum of 74 days. It resets on its own schedule. Your main account does not care and will not be touched, so stop panicking about your Kappa container, it's fine, it's always been fine.
The tarkov no wipe system means your permanent profile is now a museum exhibit: level, hideout, quests, all preserved forever, whether you touch a season or not. If that sounds like Diablo or PoE league logic, congratulations, you've played a video game before. Two seasons a year, both free, both optional, both apparently designed to make you feel something again after a decade of the same three spawn deaths.
You start at zero points. Negative modifiers hand you points. Positive modifiers cost you points. Total needs to hit zero or higher before the game lets you exist. In other words: BSG built a difficulty slider and disguised it as a personality quiz.

The kord breach release date sits inside July 2026, bundled with patch 1.1.0, no exact day locked yet. A pre-season event called Blackout runs first, theme unconfirmed, hype doing all the heavy lifting. TarCoins also arrive around this window as an in-client cosmetics store; BSG insists it's outfits only, no power for sale. Believe that at your own risk, the Edge of Darkness crowd already has opinions.
The black division tarkov faction finally gets its cosmetics after being teased since before the 1.0 launch. If you were expecting deep lore justification, adjust expectations; it is mostly an outfit line with a modifier named after it. The wider tarkov roadmap 2026 also promises Unity 6, FSR 4.0, and a Lighthouse rework, all conveniently pushed to Q3, because nothing this studio teases ever arrives on the date it was teased.
