Kappa is getting easier and the old Kappa Path achievement is being retired forever once Tarkov's 1.1 Kord Breach update goes live this month.

Battlestate confirmed it themselves, so stop arguing with strangers in Discord about it. The Tarkov Kappa container unlock is being gutted, and the old Kappa Path achievement disappears forever the moment the first season begins. Update 1.1.0.0 is scheduled before the end of July, which, unless BSG's calendar works differently from everyone else's, gives you a handful of days to finish the old grind before it's retired like a war criminal nobody wants to prosecute anymore.
Here is the part that actually matters: the new Collector requirements strip out almost every side quest and replace them with loyalty level four at every major trader plus a Fence reputation threshold of three. It is objectively easier. It is also going to make the achievement worth exactly nothing to anyone who already suffered for the old one, which is a special kind of comedy if you already have it.
| Requirement | Old System | New System (1.1) |
|---|---|---|
| Side quests | Roughly 257 Kappa-tagged tasks across every trader | Almost all removed, only a few survive including A Shooter Born In Heaven |
| Trader loyalty | Varies by quest chain | Loyalty level four with Prapor, Therapist, Peacekeeper, Mechanic, Skier, Ragman and Jaeger |
| Fence reputation | Not required | Reputation level three with Fence |
| Character level | High, informally around 45 | Level 40, which you hit anyway on the way to level four traders |
| Named tasks left | Everything | Chemical Part 4, A Shooter Born In Heaven, Tarkov Shooter Part 4, and Scav Karma Part 4 remains one of the more annoying survivors |
| Reward | Kappa Path achievement | A brand new achievement, and the old one is permanently unobtainable |
Anyone who finished this on release still gets to feel smug for exactly one reason. The Collector quest requirements no longer demand charisma or the Personality Vacuum perk, according to Nikita's answers on Twitter, so people who picked that perk to save inventory space were worrying over nothing. Consider it one small mercy in an otherwise merciless studio.
If you are close to the old Kappa, finish it this weekend. Once the first season starts, the Kappa Path achievement is gone permanently, and no amount of complaining in the comments will bring it back.
Nobody has an exact Tarkov seasonal update release date, including, apparently, the people building it. Nikita posted that Kord Breach Season 1 is planned for the end of July. Separately, BSG confirmed the current Blackout event Tarkov players are grinding through ends on July 27th, and since Blackout is the event that directly precedes the seasonal patch on the existing roadmap, that puts the update landing somewhere between the 28th and the 31st. Best guess is the middle of next week. Worst case it slides into August, because of course it might.
Don't expect a warning either. Main accounts aren't wiping this time, so there's no traditional pre-wipe countdown to tip you off. It may just appear one morning like an unpaid bill.
Buried in the same announcement was a batch of progression changes clearly aimed at new players, though everyone benefits whether they admit it or not. T-45M ammo will be purchasable from Prapor right from the start of the game, which is a genuine shift in early-wipe balance since class four armor stops being nearly unkillable outside headshots. Alongside that, the character level requirements for early Tarkov trader levels are being reduced, easing the notorious Jaeger bottleneck that has wasted years of collective player lifespan.
The total trade volume requirement for leveling traders is being removed entirely, so the ritual of buying and selling junk purely to hit a spending threshold is finally being put down. Hideout construction times for early modules are being reduced too, along with less dependency on other modules and found-in-raid items, though that mostly matters for PvE and permanent PvP since seasonal already skips found-in-raid for the hideout.
Insurance stays banned in Kord Breach season, same as before. Everywhere else it gets better. Insured items return faster in permanent PvP and PvE, though the cost rises slightly, and Jaeger now offers his own insurance service that returns lost gear within a couple of hours for a much steeper price. Handy if you like paying extra to feel less anxious.
Among the confirmed Tarkov seasonal perks, Allergic is the one generating discussion, and it deserves it. The perk makes you allergic to two random items from the provisions or medication category. Allergy only affects meds, stimulants, drinks and food, never med kits or CMS splints, and triggers a hand tremor followed by poisoning damage rather than instant death. With something like ninety eligible items in that pool, the odds of getting stuck with two genuinely painful ones like CMS-adjacent stims or Propital are fairly low, so most players will happily gamble the free points.
Here's the twist nobody expected from a studio famous for making things worse. Once the Collector quest requirements shrink to a handful of tasks and level four traders, prestiging on your permanent PMC stops being a punishment, because re-earning Kappa afterward becomes trivial instead of a second full-time job. That alone might convince a lot of veterans who avoided prestige purely to dodge repeating the old grind.
The bigger risk nobody's talking about is pacing. If trader levels, hideout modules and Kappa itself all get easier at once, seasonal characters could hit endgame gear absurdly fast, leaving three months of a season with nothing left to chase. BSG says seasons run roughly every six months, so there's time to recover, but "we'll see" has never once been a reassuring phrase in this game's history.

It disappears the moment Kord Breach season one begins, expected between July 28th and early August.
Level four loyalty with all major traders, Fence reputation three, character level 40, and only a few named quests.
No. Nikita confirmed charisma and the Personality Vacuum perk no longer affect Collector's requirements at all.
No. Prestige stays exclusive to your permanent PvP account; seasonal characters cannot prestige at all.
You become allergic to two random meds or food items, causing tremors then poisoning, never instant death.
