EA Sports FC 27 launches worldwide on September 25, 2026: the fourth entry since EA dumped the FIFA license and rebranded. The game lands on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. PS4 and Xbox One? Probably gone. EA's quietly phasing them out, which tracks.

Early access starts September 18 if you buy the Ultimate Edition. EA Play subscribers get a 10-hour trial around the same window. Pre-orders open July 15 at 5 PM UK time, right after EA's annual summer showcase where they'll explain: in maximum buzzwords: why this year is genuinely different.

The one thing everyone is actually talking about. FC The Grounds is a rumored open-world social mode: think NBA 2K's City but with footballers and fewer microtransactions. Allegedly. Players explore multiple country-based maps (UK, France, Argentina), visit barbershops, buy outfits, train at gyms, play on local pitches, and build a street reputation with a custom character.

Game Modes

FC 26 ran on HyperMotion V. FC 27 reportedly introduces Project Assist: an AI-powered system that captures live match moments and converts them into in-game animations and replay angles in real time. EA's pitch: authentic, dynamic, never-before-seen moments rendered as gameplay visuals.

The practical result: your defensive howler will be immortalized with cinematic fidelity. On top of Project Assist, expect upgraded graphics: ray-tracing on PS5 and high-end PC, 4K/120fps support, cleaner UI, dynamic weather, and fresh player scans. It will look noticeably better than FC 26. It will also look identical to FC 28.

Ultimate Team Changes (Leaked)

Cover Star

Not officially announced. The EA FC 27 cover star reveal is expected July 15 alongside the game's official unveiling. Playtest leaks from Football Gaming Zone point heavily to Ousmane Dembele: his face reportedly appears throughout menus, art assets, and marketing materials in early builds. Dembele won the 2025 Ballon d'Or and is having another dominant season at PSG. Makes sense. EA likes winners, especially ones with global marketability.

FC 26 used Bellingham and Musiala for the standard edition, Ibrahimovic for Ultimate. Whether FC 27 runs a duo or solo cover: unknown. Community voting is open on EA's platforms if you enjoy the illusion of influence.

Career Mode: The Perennial Promise

Every year, Career Mode improvements are promised. Every year, the community receives two new hairstyles and a revised player growth menu. FC 27 leaks suggest a genuine overhaul this time: revamped youth academy pipelines, realistic wage structures in transfer negotiations, live cup draw sequences, and actual trophy ceremonies.

FC 27 would be a logical place to deliver this: it's been four years since the FIFA rebrand and the mode still embarrasses itself next to Football Manager. The demand is overwhelming and documented. Whether EA delivers or adds a "Morale Emoji System" instead remains to be seen.

How to Not Get Destroyed at Launch

If FUT early access matters to you, here's the short version. Ultimate Edition buyers get in September 18. EA Play Pro subscribers, same window. EA Play basic gets a 10-hour trial: useful for FUT web app work and scouting prices before the market explodes.

1. Do the placement matches in the first 48 hours: rival rank resets hard.
2. Don't panic-buy meta cards at launch-week prices. They halve in value by week three.
3. Complete the starter SBCs immediately. The fodder cost is always lowest day one.
