Diablo 4 Aspect of the Unholy Confederate Guide
Season 13 "Lord of Hatred" is live and Paragon XP has been nerfed into the ground. Our guide breaks down every top XP source
The Paragon grind, however, has been deliberately slowed, tuned, and wrapped in systems that require you to actually think about what you are doing. Season 12 was an outlier; Paragon 300 was achievable. That was a mistake Blizzard is not repeating. Two new classes arrived: Paladin and Warlock: the level cap jumped from 60 to 70, and the Horadric Cube now lives in your endgame toolkit. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
The good news: every efficient XP system in Season 13 is chainable. War Plans, Undercity, Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whisper Caches all feed into each other. If you treat them as isolated activities you are wasting half their value. This guide covers each one so you can stop playing like it is 2023.
Play the campaign on Normal. Boss HP at level 45 gear on Hard is insulting to your time. Switch to Hard once you hit Helltides for the 75% XP bonus. This is not optional advice. It is arithmetic for buy Diablo 4 gold.

This is the cleanest alt leveling Diablo 4 method in Season 13 and the single best reason to own a strong main character. The mechanic is embarrassingly simple: cache rewards scale with the Torment tier at which you open them, not where you earned the grim favors. Earn your ten grim favors on Torment 1: kill Blood Maiden for five, teleport to Irvar and kill him for five more. Collect the whisper cache from the Raven on Torment 12. Bank it. Do not open it. Repeat until you have eight to ten caches stashed.
Create your alt. Open all caches at your maximum accessible Torment tier. Your new character just received glyphs, tempering manuals, usable gear, and an obscene XP injection before it has killed anything meaningful. Each step costs you about ninety seconds on your main.
Helltide farming Season 13 received a genuine upgrade and the community has noticed. Hellworms now erupt from the ground, spewing maggots that burst into experience orbs. If your War Plans tree includes the relevant nodes, those maggots carry +1 monster power, which raises monster life, damage, experience, and reward density simultaneously. More monster power means the orbs are worth more. The math is not about Diablo 4 leveling boost.
Run Helltides on Hard for the 75% open-world XP bonus. Prioritize zones that overlap with active Whisper grim favor objectives: you collect two reward streams per enemy. Profane Mine Cages are back: they temporarily boost overworld monster power until you die, which on a competent build means they effectively never expire. Stack a Mine Cage, find a Hellworm spawn, and stand in the pile. Try to look like you know what you are doing.
Helltide Chests scale XP with character level. Save your cinders and open chests just before the Helltide ends for maximum payout. Opening them early is the same as setting gold on fire, except less dramatic.
Nightmare Dungeons are not the headline act in Season 13, but they are extremely useful as a buff delivery mechanism. Inside certain dungeons you will find the Experience Well, which applies the Forgotten Wisdom buff: 15% increased experience for one full hour. You do not need to finish the dungeon to keep the buff. Walk in, find the well, walk out, run Helltides for an hour while it ticks.
Sigil powder is plentiful from mystery chests, regular chests, and whisper caches: the higher the cache tier, the more powder. The strategic shift this season: stop crafting Nightmare Dungeon sigils. Spend your sigil powder at the Occultist crafting Undercity tributes instead. The Undercity returns significantly more per minute.
The Kurast Undercity XP farm is the best Paragon experience source available to expansion owners, and it is not particularly close. The core mechanic is attunement leveling: as you advance through Undercity beacons, you climb attunement ranks. With the Jade Epiphany node active in your War Plans tree, each rank increase showers you in experience orbs. Every enemy inside also runs at +1 monster power, meaning the orbs are scaled upward before they even hit the ground.
Optimized runs on Torment 10–12 yield 20–30 million XP per run. Players chaining these efficiently have hit Paragon 200+ within the first days of the season. Hit every beacon, even after attunement is maxed: goblin pranksters can spawn from them and juice your end-of-run tribute chest beyond what any other activity delivers.
Do not use Greater Tributes of Armament in a routine farm run. They are mythic-farming currency, not daily fuel. Save them. This will be the last time it is said politely.
War Plans Diablo 4 is not a farm activity. It is the system that makes every other farm activity stronger, and treating it as anything else is a fundamental misunderstanding of how Season 13 is structured. Each step completed grants a minimum of 100,000 XP. Submitting a completed plan adds bonus rewards on top. More importantly, the skill trees within War Plans apply permanent upgrades to Helltides, Undercity, Nightmare Dungeons, and The Pit.
Every new character resets the War Plans tree. This is not optional information. You will rebuild it every time. Accept it and prioritize efficiently: Undercity and Helltide nodes first. Choose activities that also complete Whisper objectives; double-dipping on reward streams is the whole point. Lair Boss runs are the worst War Plans activity for Paragon XP. They are fine for mythic drops. Do not confuse the two goals.
Once you reach level 70 and clear Pit Tier 10 to unlock Torment 1, The Pit becomes a legitimate Paragon vehicle. The Heart of Stone War Plans node makes monsters drop progression orbs that convert directly into XP: especially potent on dense packs like rat kings or spider clusters. With Haste nodes active, glyph upgrade chances stack on top of already solid XP returns.
Fast clears on a manageable tier beat struggling through a higher tier every time. This is not an opinion. Two-minute clears at Pit Tier 40 generate more total XP per hour than ten-minute clears at Tier 60. Know where your ceiling is and stop pretending it is higher.

Torment 12 carries a +1400% kill XP bonus. This number is designed to make you sprint directly toward it without thinking. Do not. Torment 10 vs 12 is not a meaningful difference in reward quality; after Torment 10 the qualitative reward improvements largely plateau. What matters is clear speed. A player farming Torment 10 fluidly will accumulate more XP per hour than one crawling through Torment 12 stopping to read tooltips between deaths.
Group play adds 10% XP from a proximity-based party bonus, plus a smaller 5% bonus for nearby non-party players. Stay close to your party. The bonus is proximity-gated, not instance-wide. Spreading across the map like you have personal space issues costs Diablo 4 item boost.
If your Paragon leveling guide does not look like a chain of overlapping reward streams, you are playing Season 13 like a previous season. The entire design intent is layered efficiency. Single-activity farming is not a strategy. It is nostalgia.
